more than likely battery if it is a toyota battery. my battery went out on my 07 prerunner after only 18 months and 25k miles. my wife's 06 sienna van is on her 3rd toyota battery.

sounds like dead battery. Be aware, unplug any unused devices like radar detectors, gps units, and cell phone chargers. This should help save your battery.

Sounds like a dead battery, but you might want to think about having your alternator checked out if your battery checks out fine.

It's the battery. Batteries here in the southwest last an average of 3 years. You got an extra 6 months out of yours. Be glad this is a Tacoma instead of a Rav4. You can still drive it to an auto parts store and buy a new one. The Rav4 has electronic steering and shouldn't be driven with a dead battery.

It's strange though bc the hydrometer eye thing is showing green, my voltmeter reading is at 12.5v with engine off and 14.3v with engine running. I don't know how to test it under load though. I get no lights, no accessories, nothing, when I turn the key.

I'm going to get the Taco jumped tonite and then going to Autozone to see if they can test out my batt and alt. Hopefully it's just a dead batt.

    Yeah, really glad it's not a Rav4. :)

I got a jump tonite and took the truck to Autozone. Their test machine showed "failed diode" when testing the alternator. The battery test showed 9v and 0% charged. Not sure why their tester showed 9v where my volt-meter showed 12.5v... But looks like the alternator is a problem as well. What "failed diode" really means is beyond me. I have to do some searches...

Since my battery is old and winter is coming, I bought a new Duralast Gold battery with 750 Cold Cranking Amps and installed it. It allowed the truck to start and I could get home. I'll have to make an apt at a Toyota dealership so they can check out the alternator. It should be under warranty since I bought the extended warranty.
