Strange wear on window trim

    So the Mr. Clean Eraser worked okay. It didn't quite get it all, but it worked better than anything else so far. I'd say it got maybe 75 to 80% of it around the back window and close to all of it on the front and rear doors. I probably could have gotten more off with a little more elbow grease, but I ran of out sponges. I used the heavy duty version but they took a beating. I'll probably go over it one more time with a new pack of sponges and follow up with that Gummi stuff that was linked by KenLyns.

    1Z Gummi Pflege is NOT for that purpose. Technically speaking, GP should have been used from the ONSET(when new) to prevent the damage we see to your trim.

    I think your best bet for a "even" finish is to mask with tape and then shoot with either flat/semigloss black paint or use a spray on rubber type of product. Anything you try to do to the trim as it currently sits is just going to abrade it down to whatever is beneath the outside finish.

    That shits all over my 07's outside trim too. I believe it was on my 96 as well. Prob The heat/cold/salt/dirt effects it, especially in northeast.

    Mine has it too. Definitely sun damage. My trucks been getting full sun. On the driveway since new.
