Hi all! New member here--just bought a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road as my first car in March that I already love. Not sure if there's an easy answer for this, but there's a 2018 Tacoma down the block from me (I've tried to track down its owner already) that has a really great looking thin stripe on the side right above the door handles that I'd love to add to my truck (pictures attached). Does anyone know if there's a name for this sort of decal/stripe and, if so, how to find someone who'd be able to add it?

Sports I believe came with it from factory, maybe option for others. Most remove them but to each his own

Believe it's called a pinstripe line. They've never came from the factory this way. You could try a vinyl shop or even a paint shop if they do it the old fashion way.

    Oh look, another mod....
It's called pin striping, and it ONLY comes from the dealership when the truck is sold. It is not factory. Dealerships do this to cars so they can charge upwards of $300 for something that costs $15.

Visit a body shop where you live. They will be able to put you in touch with someone who does pinstriping. Usually it’s someone who operates a mobile service, like working out of a van.

Vinyl pinstripe. Easy to apply. Get one and stick it on. Don’t even bother with the paint pinstripe.

As other's have stated, not factory but dealer add-on. Easy to do yourself. Advice, don't cheap out on the tape get the best quality possible. I recommend 3m.

OP, I replaced mine after 11 years once the pinstripes started cracking and fading. Very easily done yourself and like Kevin Jones said - don’t cheap out. I’m traveling this week and don’t have the link to where I bought mine but will post it when I get back home. Really important to make sure all waxes/finish is off the truck before you apply. They also sell a magnetic pinstripe guide that will help you keep the straight line while applying. Super easy to install and I think you will love it. Best of luck.

The very first thing I ever did to any car, was I drove my shitbox brown Cadillac down to Western Auto and plunked my first Dairy Queen frycook paycheck down on two rolls of cream colored pinstripe. It only lasted a year. The car, that is. The pinstripe was still there the day the engine threw a rod and decided to jettison its supply of green, glittery engine oil.

...but for that one year, I was a pinstriped mac-daddy. That was a good year.

OP like others have said it's just a dealer installed pin stripe.
If you got your truck from a dealer recently maybe ask them if there detail shop could put one on for you at your next service.
Or just order some in the color combo you like online and try to DIY.
Nobody should be paying $300 bucks for a FN pin stripeo_O:rofl:
    Either way G/L.

I pinstriped cars for dealers during college. I have pinstriped the old school way several thousand vehicles!
I have never owned a car with pinstripe tho....
