unfortunately that doesn’t work for this plug. The threads are sitting in differential fluid anyhow so adding kroil wouldn’t be help if you could get fluid on the threads. Best bet is heat it up with some Map gas, tap the face of the plug with a hammer, and it will zip right out.

Worked for me. Couldn’t budge either plug until I soaked with PB blaster overnight.

you must have gotten lucky, I don’t see how that will penetrate any of the threads of the plug

Same thing happened to me and many others. I tried all the tricks listed in this thread and the only thing that worked for me was using a heat torch on it...then it came right out.

    Done that,
    wish I'd gotten a t-shirt.... ;)
Welded a cheap 10mm allen key in the hole so I could put a 10mm socket on it.
I think the heat from the welding really helped.

    I agree with @6 gearT444E
threads are soaked in oil, the washer keeps fluid IN, and the dirt OUT, so penetrating oil IMO won't help. Heat will. YMMV

Modifications are bad and only bad people modify.
I do the same exact thing, I have a little pocket notebook! The A0003s are also the same for the transfer case as the manual transmission, if I remember.

Just for grins it's always a good idea to loosen the fill plug first. Bad Ju Ju to empty the case and not be able to refill. :D

I lost some oil when I replaced the needle bearing. I was able to get the top off and fill it back up. Once I get the replacement I will get it fixed.

    Thanks

The Lexus plug has a 14mm head... this one is 24mm which matches our other gear oil plugs. Also, not sure about the Lexus but this one is made of hardened steel.

Ok they both work, I'll keep the $15 for something that will probably only be used 3 or 4 times in the lifetime of the truck. Hardened is of no real value to me in this instance. Great to have choices though.
