Stripped U-Bolt Nuts

    If it's not conspicuously labeled assume junk grade. Most u-bolt kit hardware I've seen is Grade 5. You can pay extra to get grade 8. If you do go to the hardware store, which is fine, just make sure you choose the right one.

    So you didn't really 'strip' as in the threads, you actually rounded the shoulders of the nut?

    As others have suggested, get one off to use for sizing. Find grade 8 nuts and a matching 6 point socket, and you'll be fine.

    Yeah rounded is a better term. I'm still able to get a socket over it. I just don't want to chance rounding it off even more with the wrong socket.
