Yesterday I took it to this shop because I was supper tiered from work and my truck needed maintenance. I had the oil on me and everything just wasn't feeling like doing it myself(yes being some what lazy).

So I took it to this shop and as soon as they put the oil the cab smelled strong like an unusual smell. Almost like oil or gas.
I put 5w-20 Royal Purple, I figured it might have been just the smell of the guy when he drove my truck but its been more than 12 hours and the smell hasn't gone away????
At first I thought maybe it was the density of the oil since the cap says put 5w-30 although I had read here that it was okay to 5w-20.

Anybody have any idea or experienced what this might be???
By the way the smell is continues even if the truck has been off during the night it still smelled this morning pretty strong. And the engine bay nor the muffler is putting out this smell because it doesnt smell outside at all?

I looked for dirty rags they may have left but nothing.

Check / smell around your AC/heater intake at the outside cowl passengers side. Also check the middle outside of the back of the cab where there may be an air vent / exhaust. Plus check between the cab back and bed at the bottom, a greasy rag be there nad.or on the Muffler.

It still may be in the engine compartment from oil spilled on the engine / hot areas/ exhaust, etc. and It may take a few heating cycles on the engine. I assume the oil level is correct??? After all this I'd stop at the dealer to be sure ...

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I really hope they didn't drain the transmission.

Well everything running fine, my untragauge says my engine temp is 188-195???
Checked the engine oil looks about right except it's supper hard to read. The smell comes from like front area it's really hard to detect where exactly at time it seems like it's coming from the rear of the passenger seat, where the muffler is at but it doesn't smell outside at all. Like I said the smell is even there when my truck is off it's really hard to tell where it's coming from or where it's at. I called the shop they told me to take it in so that's what I'm doing right after work.

Could it be you picked up a plastic bag on the road and it stuck/melted to the cat or exhaust system?. It takes a few hours/days for it to go away for good ....

Well, just in case the shop was screwing with you, I'd pull and check the cabin air filter and give it a smell as well. Probably not but now I'm just guessing.
