Het OP... I just read your post....
I just had the EXACT same thing occur to me.....slow down...right turn...rolling stop...then when I pressed the pedal easily, it felt like a hard release of the clutch engaging... even the wifey noticed that and asked WTF? I said it was the truck, not me....

By the way, my tranny has been filled.... I'll try to see if I can re-create this..!

    Cheers.

I have also noticed a slight axle wrap issue in my 16 but I had that in my 1st and 2nd gen trucks too. Was much worse in the older trucks. The rear axle and spring setup is virtually the same. That could be partially causing some of the issues with lurching during braking.

They know about the trip meter problem. Do a search: Uninitiated Trip Meter reset. Theres many of us with the problem. Looks like Ill be taking the legal road to get the warranty to be honored. There have been 3 trucks repaired for this issue.

I'm betting its axle wrap. Happens to the older trucks as the leafs age and sag.

    The resolution...

So later that same day I left my most recent post (7/1/16), I got a call from the service department saying parts had come in earlier than expected, and my truck would be ready for pick-up at the end of the day. Picked up the rig, and it drove like night and day. I also spoke to the actual Toyota technician who worked on my truck (who was a Gen 2 Tacoma owner btw), and he explained to me that after reading my report on paper he thought I was just experiencing the new shift parameters of the 2016's, which some people find abnormal. But immediately after test driving my truck he knew my description was spot-on and something was not right. They confirmed that the trans fluid was absolutely low, and that there was a leak near the output shaft of the trans. He also explained that it was possible that some trans fluid might've contaminated the transfer case, so they flushed the transfer case as well.

Following the 4th of July weekend, I called my dealership and requested an extended warranty. I explained that there's no telling how long my transmission fluid was low and how much extra wear-n-tear was caused by the low fluid. Fast forward to this week in August and I was informed that my request to have my warranty extended was approved! Toyota gave me the “Toyota Extra Care” mechanical extended service agreement, which I'm told is the top of line plan. 5 yrs / 125,000 mi.

Sucks about the low fluid, but I'm happy all parties from Toyota stepped up to make this right.

Update. Have not visited thread lately. All of my issues are fixed and truck is great (again). Thanks to Toyota Corporate and 1st Team Toyota. New tpms with new re-mount and balance, body bushing replaced, tranny reflashed, window grease smear alleviated, speedometer cluster replaced. I have thoroughly enjoyed my truck the past 3 weeks. It is better than new. Performance is extremely better. No lunging, no surging, no hesitation, no tpms light and no front end squeak.

I have the same problem, when I took it in for servicing, I mentioned it and was told there was a software update coming out, they could have been bs ing me. You know these car dealers never lie to the consumers, do they?

i had the transmission tsb performed and they supposedly checked the trans fluid... and its a lot smoother in the first 2 gears . during rolling stops i havent gotten that delay, which causes the jerk.... before tsb i got it once a day. im accually pretty happy on how my transmission is after the tsb.... not perfect but way better. im pretty stoked. it holds gears way better now seems to drive normal . before the trans tsb, the trans was driving me nuts.

Is the waranty information correct? 5 yeas is about 60,000 miles on average. Are you sure it's not 8 years?

File a case with Toyota like the previous guy did. It will protect you in the long run.

Wondering if anyone is experiencing this problem, had the TSB done about a month ago all my problems disappeared except for this one, also transmission fluid was checked and the tech reported one quart low, it's a bump/clunk you get when downing shift (coming to a stop) sometimes it's bad and loud and sometimes it's quiet but still noticeable, mostly happens when cold then in the morning but in the afternoon problem dissappears, if I let the truck sit for a while it will happen again. I do have a case open with Toyota. I tried explaining the symptoms, hopefully someone had the same problem and got it resolved, i love my truck but this is just bugging the crap out of me, I will be posting this same post in some other transmission threads, so I don't start a new one.

Edit: problem only happens for the first couple of stops when cold, and dealer wasnt able to duplicate.

It is likely a valve body problem.
