First modes in my new to me 2015 Tacoma: … headlamp…. tail lights… side markers…
    however struggling with hyper flashing…
Used the gtr lighting carbide for the turn signals … ck…
tail lights are the alpharex pro led.. with led for the turn signals

… Read a lot about it on Several threads… thinking to go back halogen for the turn signals…

    any recommendations?

    thanks

if you're sticking with the GTR Lighting products, you need to add their 'Gold Resistor' to each light to stop hyper-flashing. VLEDS has a much better system IMO.

Thank you. I will look at it.

The hyper flashing does not happen all the time. In the garage during testing, there is not hyper-flashing without running the engine. When running the engine .. just after about 10 blinks start hyper-flashing.... Moreover, depend on which light is selected (low, high, drl) .. the turn signal hyper-flash or not...

For now... I go back to halogens 4147NA but I will look at your vled recommendation. I like the switchback effect that can be achieved with the LED bulb

    Thanks

Are you running the Carbide 2.0 series?

    https://www.gtrlighting.com/gtr-lighting-carbide-2-led-bulbs-3156-3157?quantity=1

I was just looking at these and they claimed no resistor required...not sure if you used these and they failed to meet performance requirements or if you went with something besides Carbide 2.0.

Side note...if it doesn't happen right away but occurs after a while it could be thermal related.....which sounds like a warranty claim to me.

Yes. I was running the Carbide 2.0 Series CK type socket with the switchback feature as I was recommended.

For now, I am just running the oem bulbs, type 4157NA. I am happy now at least there is not hyper flashing.

I heard you about the thermal related root cause. Moreover, It could be that in addition I have installed the mirror side markers LED from Morimoto and the tail lights from Alpharex (pro series LED). It might be too much to handle for the Carbide 2.0 series. I do not give up :)

    Thanks!

Swap your flash relay to one designed for LED rather than using hack failure prone resisters.
    https://www.diodedynamics.com/led-flasher-for-2005-2016-toyota-tacoma.html

Personally I’d just stick with the stock incandescents.

Edit: while a light might say no resisters are needed, that is usually assuming you are only changing the front, or only changing the rear to LED, so there is still the load of one incandescent on the signal to prevent hyper flash. But switching both front and rear causes the current draw to fall below the threshold minimum, and then cause hyper flash.

Thanks for the feedback...I was going to order the Carbide 2 to go with my new XB headlights.... but I think I should wait a minute ;)

Keep us posted if you find a resolve / root cause - thanks!

I suspect you need to change the flasher to an LED compatible flasher.

Adding resistors to the circuits is most often a band-aid to the root of the problem
