    Yes that is something separate.

I use the Hypertech inline. It is a small module installed in the dash behind the speedometer. You program it with your tire size and gear ratio and it calibrates it from there.

no splicing or cutting of your harness is needed

depending on tire size increase and gear ratio change you can expect any where between 7%-12% variance in both your speedometer and odometer. Meaning if the speedo says 50 you are actually going 45 and once you put 300k miles on the truck there will be 30k miles that never physically happened. Also with the 3rd gens that calculate mpg non of that will be accurate.

Gear ratios dont affect the speedometers on these trucks.......

And larger tires will make your speed faster than what your speedometer shows.......so, if your odometer showed 300k, you would have traveled farther than that in reality.

Great tune on my 2020 today. Very, very knowledgeable and trustworthy. And it makes it a real truck. Now more waiting on the flux capacitor. Squirrel truck has some A$$ to it now. Definitely best mod to date!

Yes I am sorry I had the speed backwards (stupid dyselxia)

but for the odometer as far as it was explained to me is that with a stock smaller tire the truck computer thinks it goes around once when you upgrade tire size now the tire has only gone around 3/4 time (estimate) making the odometer read higher than it should be. Is that not correct?

    It is not.

Look at the circumference of the two tires. A larger tire has a larger circumference and therefore travels more distance while the ecu thinks that it traveled however far a smaller tire would have traveled. A 31 will travel less distance in one revolution than a 35 will in one revolution. All the truck knows is that the tire turned over one time.

That is why a larger tire will make your vehicle go faster than the speedometer shows and your odometer will show less mileage than what is actually traveled.

Makes total sense when you put it like that. Thank you for the correction. I have some ones but I have to go kick for the misinformation.

either way it’s all wrong once you change things and the mpg computations will be wrong as well.

If I were to get a K&N cold air intake kit... would I need to retune the OVT?

It’s mostly exhaust or forced induction that we would have to adjust things

Was able to get the KDMAX tune done on my 2021 MT by Rhys. Great guy answered all my questions and was great to deal with. He has a nice organized set up when doing your tune and breaks it down to you so that you can understand what the tune will do for you. I decided to go with the KDMAX when I saw a post where @PapaRee mentioned to another user that he was willing to let the tune do the talking and if he did not like it he would not have to pay for it. Anyone that can stand behind work like that will earn my business. Its been about 2 weeks since I got the tune and all I can say is that its great in my opinion, as soon as we took out for drive after it was tuned I noticed that the truck felt like if could breath and the power was nice and steady when hitting the gas. It's something that you have to experience for yourself to understand the feeling. I can’t help myself every time I drive it and not smash on the pedal with a big smile due to it feeling like a completely different truck. If you are thinking about getting it all I can say is get it, you won’t regret it.

Thanks again to all those involved in creating this and thanks to Rhys for the tune.
