Stu488's Slow 2016 Quicksand DCSB build thread

Thought I'd start a build thread to document my slow process of building the truck i want.

Started with a stock 2016 Quicksand TRD Off Road 4x4.

So far, I have replaced wheels and tires. Wheels are Procomp 5001 Series 17x8 with 4.5 backspace, 0 offset wrapped in BFG KO2's in LT265/70/17 Load C.

I plastic dipped the grille and side emblems and removed the V6 emblem from the tailgate.

Picked up a Boss 2.0 lift kit from @ToyTec Lifts and hope to get it installed early next week.

I will post more photos both before and after the lift is installed.

Finally got the @ToyTec Lifts Boss 2.0 Kit put on. Went together really well all things considered. A little mistake by us slowed us down, I'll just say read the directions. Really happy with the way it came out, rides great and looks even better. Thanks to Tanner at Toytech for answering the phone last minute and solving our 1 issue that arose.



Here is the one issue that we found. To install the diff drop kit, a small part of what I believe to be the skid plate brace had to be trimmed. In the picture below you can see where the lip of the brace slightly wrapped under the diff mount.


The truck is really dirty in the pictures. Will attempt to get better pics after I get it cleaned and get some decent weather.

 

How much lift did you actually get ?

 

About 2.5 inches

 

Did you do the body lift? Why did you choose the 2.0 over the 2.5?

 

I did not do the body lift. Went with the 2.0 over the 2.5 because cost and I didn't feel I needed the 2.5 for my purposes.

 

Sweet. Are you impressed with the kit? Did you install yourself or have it done?

 

I like it so far. Ride is great, have yet to test it off road. My buddy and I installed it.

Install was really easy. Trimming the skid plate brace was the hardest part. As long as you have the proper tools and some mechanical experience you'll be fine.

 

I don't have time to decommission my vehicle lol my only vehicle.

 

Did you install new upper control arms?

 

Not yet, but it is on my to do list hopefully by the end of the month.

 

Is your alignment off?

 

My tech said the sai or sia, can't remember what order the letters go, is off a bit but everything else was good.

 

Ok. I'm considering the Boss kit. Just trying to research.

Added aluminum front skid plate from RCI Offroad.

It wanted to hit the front diff with the diff drop kit installed. Had to get 2.5 inch bolts and used the spacers that were on the factory skid plate from the diff drop on the rear of the new skid plate to get it off front diff.


I also installed aluminum control arm skids from RCI offroad.
