If you have a aftermarket Sirius radio installed and you change to a stubby will it screw up your range and frequency

edit: I have a Sirius antenna that makes the range better than a normal Sirius antenna

On top of the roof there is a small round Sirius antenna and then this guy at Best Buy put on a Antenna thing on the base of the car antenna to make it have better reception

so a stubby fm antenna? I'm pretty confused as to what your asking. I have experience w/ gps antennas, xm, sirius, and fm antennas so i'll know what your asking as long as its clarified.

Sorry about that.. I have the original OEM antenna and I thinking about getting a Stubby but the only problem is that my Sirius is aftermarket (Best Buy Tigertown did it).

There is the normal Sirius antenna on my roof and then the guy at Best Buy put in a device to the OEM antenna to give the Sirius antenna (on the roof) better reception.

If it will help you, Ill get pictures tomorrow

I know what you're talking about -- switching to a stubby antenna won't affect it. The stubby is a lot thicker than the stock antenna, so it may not fit around very well.

it's like the XM sure-connect. I have it installed on my DD

edit: After reading delmarva's post I think now that your talking about a little c-clip that fits around the stock antenna so you can get better reception using an fm transmitter with your satellite radio.

The piece at the base of your FM antenna may not fit over the stubbie antenna very well as the stubbies are very thick. I'm basing this on how I installed my XM on my DD with the 'signal booster.'

it will not fit on a fatter stubby. My dad had that w/ his xm and I tried borrowing it on my chevy ( i put a stubby on it) and it did not fit.

buy the ipod adapter from me and you can plug in the headphone adapter directly into the ipod adapter (has a 3.5mm port on it.)

    Problem solved

Naturally, check for it to see if there's one that will fit. My DD has an automatic antenna that I disconnected -- it's about as thick at the bottom as my stubby on my truck. The C clip didn't really fit, so I jammed it on and taped it into place with electrical tape. Then, I put some shrink tubing around it -- not the greatest thing in the world, but it works...
