My Powerbuilt Offset Sensor socket is slipping on my bank 2 downstream sensor so I can't get it to budge. I sprayed WD40 repeatedly first around it but it seems to be pretty clean with little or no corrosion. I only have 60000 miles. I saw where a guy uses vise grips and a sledge hammer. I guess this is what I'll try tomorrow. Any thoughts out there would be much appreciated. Thanks

cut the pigtail and use a box end wrench or a socket/breaker bar

Is the 02 tool spreading out and slipping? Or is the sensor rounded off?

Awesome CB setup, TRD leaf springs, matching camper shell...more to come some day.
Use PB blaster or kroil...also you could use a propane torch to heat the threads a little.

A boxed end 22mm wrench will fit over the connector. I just replaced mine yesturday.
Maybe use a dead blow hammer with it. Lol

I think the O2 tool is spreading and slipping and rounding the hex off. I got some PB Blaster and used it and was waiting for some warmer weather for crawling around and guess what...the mother effing CEL turned off. It had been on for a few months during the winter and early spring. The only thing that I did was a lot of failed wrenching followed by the PB Blaster and then on the first warm day the light turned off. Did God fix it? Thanks for the responses!

Lol! No he or she did not. You may want to check for exhaust leaks as well. I replace both down stream sensors and the light came back with in a few days. I found an exhaust leak at the fitting for the y-pipe to the primary cats. Something to look at too.

Thanks rheath08...I think I'll drive it and see if that CEL stays off and maybe go back to AutoZone and have them check for codes again. Have you ever heard of a CEL turning itself off. I did not take the battery cable off. That CEL was on on the way to work and on the way home it was off.

Yes, after "X" amount of drive cycles with out it detecting the fault it will clear it's self out. BMW's are 40 cycles not sure what Toyota's are.

IMG_0193.jpg Somehow the CEL came back on today and with lots of luck and PB Blaster I got the O2 sensor off. I had to use vise grips and almost gave up. Finally in a last ditch effort I used a clamp to close the really tight vise grips and got the sensor to budge a pinch and got it off! My only issue now is the new sensor looks slightly different on the business end. The wires are a couple inches longer. The connector looks identical. The wires are different colors. If I can get a picture to come through could I get an opinion on whether to go ahead and install the new one. Thanks.
    New one is on right.

DIFFERENT BRANDS WILL LOOK SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT. sorry for the caps did'nt realize it was on. just double check that the new part applies to your vehicle. that new sensor may fit multiple vehicles besides a tacoma.

The saga continues. The CEL never turned off so I thought I'd cut my losses and take it to the dealer. $125 to diagnose. $270 to replace an upstream O2 sensor tomorrow. Hopefully thats it. Also I have $70 in the downstream sensor and the so called tool. This is really brutal. Its really hard to love my Toyota now.
