Same price for weld on? I'm really back and forth due to price, only because I live in FL and they'd really be put to the test maybe a few times a year. But at the same time, one good "use" would make then worth the $$.

Can you produce a certified quality weld on your back and around a corner, under a truck? Can you get to the inside of all your welds, wire brush them, and recoat the frame to prevent rust? If not, get a bolt on. There is no downside to a bolt on slider, only upside.

The OP lives in Florida so this doesn't apply but for those in the north beware. Weld on sliders will give Toyota a valid reason to exclude your truck from the frame replacement.

You're probably better off with bolt on sliders. I can't remove the weld on sliders without cutting all the tubes welded to the frame. I'm used to them, so it doesn't bother me. I had to put some of the anti skid tape on them after I slipped on them when it was wet.

Pretty sure I'm gonna spend the extra $ and go with the SOS. Eddy did me right on a skidplate, so I don't mind supporting that type of business.

I personally believe bolt on are stronger than weld on. Bolting provides clamp force so you have static friction from a large portion of the mating surface transferring force from the slider to the frame. With welded the forces are transferred only through the beads for significantly higher local stresses on the frame. Also everybody thinks they're either the best welder on the planet or "their guy" is the best welder on the planet but the truth is that it's a variable in the quality whether you like it or not, buildings have fallen down because of this kind of thing. In the end it probably doesn't matter, but one you can easily remove.

But then again you can save on money because weld on are cheaper.
