Downhill. Downhill on that track with CC would have been easy. I almost always use my CC when going downhill at my cabin. I have a steep greasy section that curves next to a creek and in just 4x4 the front pushes and slides pretty badly, but with CC it just walks right down it with 0 drama.

Much like OP's video, CC will not get me up the hill, but neither will any other mode if the conditions are poor.

Its all I ever used my CC for, I loved how you could control downhill with it. Simulates an ultra low range gear box.

I had good tires, and good bite, but uphill CC was embarrassing in a group, way too slow.

Skinny pedal and locker up hill all day.

wish i knew that before.... it makes sense.
that would have helped a lot when I descended that shitty section. i was sliding like crazy. that's the moment when I knew "I fcked up" hehe.

your message is the only message within all those 100+ replies that was not just bullying/trolling and it actually taught me something new. This is helpful, i will keep it in mind!

    thank you!

everyone else is taking CC as personal offense, as if they designed it, selling it or benefitting of it or invented it hehe...

OP's mistake was posting the video for all to see. If you didn't do that, nobody could prove you ever had a period of inexperience and made mistakes. And an unedited video at that! So much of social media is so filtered you never see anything real, warts and all.

Mud takes wheel speed. I'm not saying CC doesn't work going uphills, just it has to be used in the right situation.

I like how nobody resorted to name calling except the people calling people out for being "dicks" and "assholes." hmmm

Dude doesn't post shit to TW except clickbait for his youtube. If he came in asking for help i'm sure he would have gotten the kid gloves and a handful of helpful responses, but that's not what he wanted. He wanted an 8 page thread so more people click on his video so he can be the next youtube overlander sensation. And that's what he got, so don't go full white knight just yet.

There's snow, mud, ice, and anything else you want at pilot rock, cleghorn, lytle creek, holcomb creek, and probably a dozen other trails in southern california and they're all open right now. They are actually probably the busiest after a good snow.

    Ted,

The lockers are around $900-$1000 EACH depending on seller.

Don't forget you will need an air compressor and a mount which depends on model $200-$500 but how damn nice to have. Plus you may need a small manifold.

Labor will vary and is pretty intense as it requires drilling and tapping the cases, plus spreading and shimming. I had 4.88 gears and other stuff done at the same time, but ~8 hours or so for the lockers....$100/hour maybe more or less in your area.

    Paul
