Here we have Shane and I on the way out to the middle of no where to find me @hoarder23

No recovery mission is fun without “tagging” a rock and running on a flat for a mile+ haha

(at this point we had picked up Shay on the side of the highway)

    FF7B7E82-5212-4C08-A0C5-4632A3FBD25B.jpg

Got the handy-dandy pro-eagle...errr... sketch hi-lift out and the flat was changed quickly and painlessly back on the road to Shay’s truck.

    9D661963-5145-4B28-B595-473ED989348A.jpg

We carried on and came to what I thought was a dead end. NOPE! @desertjunkie760 and @hoarder23 get out and Shay says “I tried to go around” which meant he drove through what appeared to be a dead end. We walk up and over this narrow path to find Shay, sunk AF in the mud

    ^ El-Fucked-O

    87179127-DA16-4EE4-8E7A-2D2FC8FF4717.jpg

Ran my line, almost reached, so we added a couple tow straps to the mix. No good. Added more tow straps and a snatch block to double the load and we’re making progress now!

^ he was next to the bush before.
But this is when we realized we might have wanted to pull from the drivers side, not the passenger side.

^ Another view. Time to regroup.

    F5B8A45B-3F39-4546-86BA-E7EFBBD98D72.jpg

Regrouping meant pulling him forward and aiming for a dry patch so we could get him turned around.

    10F10A6D-A51C-4328-A5FE-CE1E8C9D58C3.jpg

The handy rock we used to winch him became a problem when it got hung on the axle.
You can really see the quality of the mud, thick clay/sand soup glue. Crazy stuff.

    C29F554B-9AAC-4F16-A1FF-3B51E6A7B2C9.jpg ADF09C9C-68C5-4B53-9448-F1717B86D1FA.jpg

We got him turned around, re-positioned the winch, @whatstcp hooked on to me for an anchor since this stuff was SOFT and loose. Felt like I’d get pulled down into the ditch.
Shane continued to run point on watching Shay and myself since I couldn’t see him from the drivers seat winching.
this time we made real progress.

    649D920E-AAC5-48E9-A9C0-4F8FC1F2E345.jpg

We got him out of the soup, and up onto the sketch AF little “pass” he had driven through.

Towards the end he was as high up the wall he could go and his rear was starting to slide over the edge. Inches from sliding into the ditch and creating a whole new realm of “fun”.

    9B10F7E7-5992-4C01-944F-625C07EAA3D0.jpg

    Thankfully he made it!

    FDAF9B08-7F2B-47D5-B085-4D941FC77552.jpg 9E5AF663-3D29-48A8-A914-EE12035A3754.jpg

Drove out the trail and to the main road.

Long night. Just woke up from a 3 hour nap if some of this is jumbled.

I guess I’m buying a used tire today to hold me over. Need an alignment too. That rock did damage and the steering wheel is at 2 o’clock.

It started raining when I hit the 52 grade just before I got home. Right around 5:30-6 AM.

It probably sheared the spring center bolt. That would make the steering wheel crooked.

There was a rock slide just before the mud puddle. Made navigation much more complicated. Was that there last time you went through?

He wasn't there, but @Prayn4surf played a crucial role coordinating and communicating for us :fistbump:

Again, good to meet you Ed! @whatstcp
Shane, @desertjunkie760 who knew those texts would be foreshadowing :cheers:

Shay, @hoarder23 it was all worth it to see you shining your flash light on the side of a pitch black empty two lane highway in the middle of no where at damn near 1 am miles and miles and miles and miles from your rig! The look on your face was priceless.
