First part is so true. Been there, done that.
I wonder if we need to set up a "if you have done dumb shit and run out of talent" phone tree or a SoCal Tacoma recovery sub forum. I am a member of the SCOR facebook group but I seldom go on Fbook.

I moved from So Cal and I have done many trails in Ocatillo so props to all of you.

 

We through that idea out there. It’s much further than you’re making it sound.

I was leaning towards #5.

 

That was the primary reason we decided to throw in the snatch block. Initially we attempted a direct pull but you could tell there was excessive load and a long ways to go. We opted to double the pull load to avoid any of the above situations.

 

Right, it's not the short way. Just throwing it out there in case ya didn't know. Glad you got em out!

 

We definitely thought about it but decided against it due to the increased risk. If we sent a truck or all there was no guarantee that there wouldn’t be another mud pit and another stuck truck.

If Shay continued on his path once he got through there would be no guarantee we could access him if he needed another recovery.

 

#6 is vital as well.

 

Your just now learning #1 and #2. I figured you would have that down before now. Though you are always ready for whatever the outcome may be! Glad your out and you've met good people close enough to come rescue you out there.

 

You could've done it, you just need a set of 47" tires.

Might want to add always probe mud before you try powering through it. As you have found out, probing it with your legs after your already stuck sucks. lol

Not all recoveries happen at 10am on a Saturday. In fact the really memorable ones only happen when you get woken up at 2am. lol

I'm be keeping all your names on my short list if I ever need a late night recovery. Nice work gents.

 

The places you would get stuck and need a rescue will require air support
