You see all those cars parked behind you in the parking lot? That's where you park.
Everyone gets to be the 4x4 truck who gets stuck once, maybe even twice if you take a bit to learn a lesson.

All those cars are actually attempting the trail as well. They were originally parked at the entrance and when they saw me start the trail they all decided to try it as well. Once they saw that I was stuck they didn’t go any further.

One guy was in a 2wd 4runner and we had to pull him out once I was unstuck.. he got stuck as soon as he entered the trail

All in all it was a very eventful evening. I’m glad I had the recovery gear I had and also glad for the guy that had another 2 recovery boards otherwise I would’ve been digging a lot longer

MTS might have helped(or not), who knows. Would have been interesting to try. I have not used it yet in the snow, but I plan to. I was very impressed with it in Page, AZ. It certainly pulled me out of some nasty sand spots near the lake. You certainly had above average clearance and tire size.

Ha! Nope, I seriously did not get stuck. Unlike my buddy with the trd off-road and dedicated winters… I had to pull him out.

My truck amazes me more and more every year.

Did either of you air down?

I've seen too many rookies try to throttle it out or put on chains and dig to the Earth's core...

might have helped a little but his tires were not meant for any kind of serious snow driving. Its not even 3 peak rated. Better tires might have helped a little. What we don't know is if getting stuck was just barely or so bad that there was no way anyone would get through.

No, no, don't feel bad any idea is better than none. After all, if that 2x4 can't be used to pull the truck out, we can still use it to beat the dead horse in the next thread:thumbsup:

Two tricks I learned driving on (in) deep snow: 1. rock the steering wheel back and forth while moving forward- helps the front tires bite into the crust, and 2. Drive forward a bit, then reverse a bit, and forward again- it helps you make a compacted track to drive on, especially to get unstuck.

The old timers would say a 4x4 helps to get in really deep before getting stuck...
