I do gotta give it to Toyota. They do actually give a good effort to fixing a problem before saying it's normal :D

I wish that was the problem. I have felt the traction control in the rain when turning, but this was straight ahead in the dry. My truck won't even chirp the tires in the dry....even when trying to do a brake stand (the first vehicle I have ever owned that wouldn't).

Same issue with mine. Seems like it happens when I mash the gas pedal to get out into traffic. Very concerning and leads me to hesitate at times. I have noticed it doesn't do it if I press the pedal less that 75% of the way down. It clearly loses power, lurches and then kicks into gear.

Mine does it. Noticed it a while back. I don't floor it from a stop very often unless I'm trying to squeeze into traffic, but that is exactly when you don't want it to happen. It starts going for a second, then loses power and lurches a couple times, then kicks back in. I'll mention it to the dealer next time I'm in but I don't have much faith they'll do anything about it.

This ECM makes no sense. After the TSB shifting was better. Still bogging down though. Noticed it likes to keep RPM at 1K. Obviously it can't handle that. About 7k it seemed that it was beginning to settle in and shifting was pretty good ! I don't drive much highway. So it had to zero in on being in the correct gear. Last week I hit the highway for a couple of hours each way. Even used D with cruise. Everything worked well ! Then when going back to work in traffic, it got stupid again.

My truck does this as well, though I've had a difficult time describing to the service advisor ... I kind of gave up on it honestly. I'm getting ready to trip 7k on mine and have the following observations: (1) I have the Shift Sense Pro on mine and it doesn't stutter at all when running with it engaged; (2) The stuttering was more common but less aggressive earlier on in ownership, now it appears to be less common but more aggressive when it happens - this could be due to using the SSP more? Not sure; (3) Mine really only does this after shifting into 3rd - I'm not sure if this is common but when in D or normal S modes, once the truck shifts into 3rd, all power is lost and the tranny starts stuttering. To remedy, I will depress throttle waaayyy further than it should in order to kick in torque converter and move out of the 3rd gear 1k rpm stuttering. I'm hoping that point #2 above is an indication that the computer is slowly learning and changing the truck's behavior, but who knows. I'm driving mostly with the SSP engaged to avoid this stuttering, which means that I now have a midsize truck with no power that gets 15/16 around town ...

Your mileage will pick up again once you get past 10,000 miles. Should get you 17/18 with out SSP driving, with SSP you'll pick up to 18/19 and over 20 on mid distance highway driving. Long distance 21.5 while on SSP, take it off of SSP on long highway drives and dead flat terrain you might get 22.5 if you stay under 65 mph. of course this is with a stock tire and no lift offroad model. SSP is working well for me.

    I can't complain about the mileage - 19 / 23 MPG from start.

This is common. My truck does the same thing. It will really make you pucker when you go to pull out into traffic and it stutter/stops on you.

Has anyone tried replacing the CPS for this problem? It looks like you can have a faulty CPS that causes stuttering without throwing a code and all the while not being included in the current recall. If it's a relatively simple install, for $100 I would try it.

Are you smashing the throttle down; meaning a very rapid throttle rate?

If you need to "smash" the throttle down, ECT is your friend.

If you read the first post, that was the second thing toyota tried. 0 affect

Sometimes it requires mashing it, sometimes not.

This happens with etc on or not.

Mine hesitates when my throttle rate is super fast. I wonder if Toyota has put in some safety code that is very cautious to accelerate at rapid throttle rates. Remember the unintended acceleration issue.
