Yes got me. Too many pucker moments & the photo of the tacoma on its side from black ice said money up.

Yes to studding them too. I would have went with the blizzaks if I drove my truck more on dry pavement but have other choices for that. You pegged it with the enclosed trailer I am soooo looking forward to them. Why I wanted so long I'll never know.

Your welcome...If I hadn't went studded, I would have done as Demoncleaner said and went Blizzak for sure. But the one trip home as I posted above made them well worth it, and like you, especially after seeing that one ride on its side after flipping, I'm glad to go studded.

Dry pavement handling has been just fine. Not any issues at all. Even ride a little better than the stock tires. I drive a wide variety of roads, except gravel, on my way to work. Rough back county roads, highway 55, interstate 70, and stop and go city.

I do drive like I'm on eggshells though when the roads are dry. I don't make tight turns, don't turn the wheel when sitting still, and take off very slow from a stop. I try to be very carefull not to rip out any studs.

I drive 50 miles a day so I'm very curious how many miles I'll get out of them.....will know in a few years I suppose.....

The sound from the tires and the studs is no big deal at all for me. Never realy ride with the windows down in the winter much anyway.......on a warm day though I have put the window down and shut off the radio just to listen to the studs:eek:.....funny to watch people in the wal-mart parking lot look at you funny......I just think, suckers, I'll make it home in any weather without the super pucker factor!:p

Congrats on the purchase xedge, and I think you'll be very happy with them....:D Hope they arrive quickly before that storm gets there!

I have the same tires minus the studs and they are friggin awesome! i have no issues with ice or snow but i have grown up all my life in the great white north:D they grip nicely on icy highways and lose only minimum traction on pure ice (as long as you drive right!)

^^^^^^^Right on xedge, they look great. You're very welcome.

I seen the snow/freezing rain last night and never even worried about getting home or what else it might do. Those babies on the truck are tremendous........the only concern I have is my escape route from another out-of-control motorist.

side note: so everyone knows, I still drive as cautious as the next guy, you wouldn't even know I have an advantage over the next guy until he is in a ditch and I keep moving straight ahead. It happened in the last ice storm too, all the headlights behind me slowly started dissapearing.....I was driving very slow myself....

Anyone else have any experience with the Blizzacs or stuuded tires in winter?[/QUOTE]

I used to run Blizzacs on the 94 Toyo Truck I had, they were excellent.

For some reason I was thinking that you were not supposed to run studs in Indiana anymore because of how they tore up the asphalt. I might be dreaming though.

Nice, esp w/ the timing! Lucky its back to snow today. You should have some nice testing. We'll want to see pics with them mounted up.

Mother Nature provided all the elements to test these out & they absolutely stick to the road. Minimal noise, felt alittle squishy at first compared to my AT's, but the stopping and gripping power is night & day compared to anything I have ever used in winter. Duh, why did I wait so long? Funny I was in a parking lot and saw five 4WD tacomas all with these same exact tires. It was like I finally got the memo from Indiana no less

good choice. Keep your eyes out on the craigslist in your area. If you can find someone lifting their truck and going to different wheels, you might find a good deal on stock TRD wheels like I did.

Just took the ice picks off after my second season. I put 5500 miles on them each of the last two years and they are wearing very well. At the rate they are wearing, I would say I could get several more years out of them. Twice this winter in particular they got me home safely on solid ice after a freezing rain storm. They paid off again.:yay:

Hey Judy, how many miles you have on yours now? Anyone else have an update?

got the ice picks back on and they helped keep me straight all the way to work early this morning. The wear seems to be very minimal with a little over 11k miles total on them so far.
