Studs Cutting Slots in Drums

    The thought running through my head is that they installed some wheels with a smaller hub bore than the rear axles. So they tightened down the lug nuts, but not against the brake drum. Cast aluminum wheels are pretty rigid, so it seemed tight and centered on the studs good enough to drive OK. The problem was that the brake drum wasn't being held secure so every time the brakes were used the studs cut a little into the drum.

    I had the same thought and examined each one. Clean threads not sign of damage to the studs at all.

    I had the same thought and examined each one. Clean threads not sign of damage to the studs at all. Maybe all the studs were replaced and for some reason they just decided to keep the drums.
