Have you called corporate and opened a case? They will do a better job getting after a dealer to look at this issue.

Try calling corporate again. Keep bugging them, otherwise they may not think you are too serious.

We're all experiencing the symptoms. Your best bet is to get the OVTune and get logs for it so it can be tuned out (if it's not already in his tune)

My wife's latest gen Mazda3, and one of my old RSXs had a similar issue if I ran regular gas. Mid grade seemed to fix 90% of the problem, and the increased mileage offset (most of) the cost of the fuel.

I also ran Shell VPower Gold in my GTI and Golf R because it is has zero ethanol. That shit is bad.

This is what I'm hoping the orange virus tune can fix. It might not be in the cards though. It runs so smooth from 2.5k+ but it really is all over the place below that.

Yeah I have a 2000 wrangler, manual trans inline 6 as well as the Tacoma right now. Power delivery is smooth, low end torque exists, there is no jerk when the RPMs fall below 1500 RPM, there is nice consistent engine braking even at lower RPM's. I'm amazed at how a 17 year old vehicle could be easier to drive predictably than my brand new (well relatively new) $30k+ tacoma. The only place where I really appreciate the throttle control is 1st gear. The taco is really smooth in 1st gear, I don't have to be too careful at low speed in 1st/2nd, slip the clutch, etc to keep it smooth. The Jeep not so much, have to really finesse it.

I hope Toyota would address this issue. Makes a brand new truck feel like crap. Feels worst with the A/C on.

Why should they? The profit margin on the 3RD Gen is tremendous.

At 35K to 40K average price paid they can afford to lose a few sales which is less costly than upgrading the build quality.Tacoma is a niche market and Toyota knows they can get away with lowering the build quality and still maintain 175K to 200K units sold.

When it stalls does it restart okay or does it not start back up?

My money is actually on an erratic failing CKP or possibly even failing CMP's

This - The CKP (CPS) is an easy thing to rule out!

Just CKP. Lol. CPS is not the correct terminology.

Agree but 1/2 people on here won't know what you mean unless you use the "CPS" b/c so many threads have incorrectly referred to it as such.

Yeah I know huh. One person started saying it then it spread like wildfire. It pissed me off so much out of annoyance that I almost posted up a mini rant thread about it in the 3rd gen specific section. Lmao. I should and have a moderator sticky it. :D
