Want to tackle a few stumps before I can borrow a skid steer later in the summer. Most are 8" shallow root cedars about 5-10" high.
Any suggestions or tips for pulling stumps with your truck? Thanks!

Unless you can hook a choker and pull with steady pressure then I would not. Trucks are not good stump pullers. YouTube the fails

How about don't pull stumps with your truck! That's my tip...

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
The most sensible recommendation is - DON'T!
    But if you must:
    - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=at6sBRHIbl8
The closer to vertical the 'pull' direction is, the easier it gets (that's why the wheel).
Best time to do this is immediately after a long soaking rain. Definitely NOT when the ground is dry.
DON'T do the fast 'jerk' otherwise you'll be an example of the YouTube fails.

In the first video above, I was thinking if that line snapped and hit that dude man oh man ...
So... you should put a blanket over that line to help prevent this - ( i think ) ...

Still, I'd hire the job out.

I broke the rear differential trying to pull a stump with my old Suburban. It was a fairly large stump, but I would never use my truck for that task again.

I did a 8" diameter spruce that was tipped at a 45deg angle already due to wind storm with wife's highlander. You just need to be smart. Put tension on (with chains), then dig /chop roots, repeat. Also did several large evergreen bushes with it.

I've pulled a mess of stumps with different 4x4s over the years, but I've never used the "tire method". I will next time! Still, dig and chop.

Not stumps but my truck had no problem pulling out bushes and mature crate myrtles from around the house, 4x4 low gear and just let her walk them out.
