    Just enough, and never enough
Ok i just start from the bottom first(the one on the glove box) then lift it just enough to connect the dampener to the top hook. i had to play with it for a while but it still works!:notsure:

i just ditched my dampener after it popped off twice. Its buried in the bottom of the glove box now, so if I feel a need to reinstall it in the future for any reason i can dig it out. Dont care about it though.

I finally put a screw in mine. The screw doesn't have to be big and actually, you want it smaller (with length) so it'll screw into the plastic. All it needs to do is spread open the plastic flare parts to prevent it from coming off.

    back to bone stock.
i'll admit, that dampener stumped me for a few minutes. i was doing it in the dark.

i seem to remember two post coming out of the dash. is the OP trying to use the correct one? hook up top, stretch out the shaft, snap it onto the bottom post. done. there is plenty of room for even the largest wookie hands.

snap in the under dash part 1st, then use a 90 deg bent scribe to hook into lower hole. pull down until the point of the scribe is in the center of the peg and snap it on.

When the tamper becomes unconnected, the anchor end has to be reconnected by inserting it through the larger opening above the opening where it extends down to the glove box. There is a plastic tip that tamper loop clips onto. The tamper will not clip onto this tip by trying to insert it through the lower opening because of the angle. Hope this helps.
