Fixed this so it won't ever fall off again. Only snap to deal with is the bottom one now.... top snap is permanetly secured with screw. Drill through the top mount tab (avoid hitting any wires) with a 9/64 drill bit, secure dampner (just snug up/don't over tighten) with a 9/64 machine screw 1.5" long / washer/nut. Once glove box is back in lower the dampner and snap back on... that's it. Screw size/length just what i had laying around...

2014 Tacoma SR5 4x4 DC SB V6 AT Tow Pkg Entune+ Mostly stock with a few OEM mods.
Stock (99.999%) OEM Bed Floor Mat, Front Bed Rail Cargo Net and hooks, Auto-Dim mirror w/Compass and outside Temperature display, TRD Pro Grille, Uni-Filter air pump modification, WeatherTech floor liners f/r. OEM All-Weather floor mats (summer).
It drives everyone crazy. Every time I do it, the damper thingy lets go, takes off and lands on the floormat, and then dumps the entire contents of the unit onto the floor.

The only good thing when this happens is it only connects back correctly one particular way to work right, and after an extra 20 minutes you'll figure it out.

I took mine off so long ago I forgot there was a damper there. Swell, thanks for the reminder. :frusty:

My glove box doesn’t fall down and dump everything, thankfully. I think I’ll just do the send-to-dump method…..

I tossed mine too. I'd forgotten I ever had one until reading this.
