I don't have a tacoma but have been thinking about purchasing one. I am partial to the first gen. tacos. We just had a baby and my current 2 dr. pickup is not big enough.

I was hoping if someone could tell me if the first gen. 4 dr.'s offered a long bed....6' or only the short 4' bed.

Thanks in advance for the help

Don't quote me on the years but... 2002-2004 had optional 4 drs, nice trucks good looking bodies, 3.4 litre, 5 speeds or autos, would be a good choice for a growing family.

Jedi is correct, but they only came in the short 4' bed flavor.

I proudly own a 2001. I am attached at the hip to this truck. It has the 4.5 foot bed. I have a bed extender that I used alot that handily increases it to 6.5 feet. I bought the truck new using the criteria that if I could sit comfortably in the backseat (6'1"-245lbs) it would be my truck. This truck, even 7 yrs. later proves itself and its versatility to me and my family so much so that I don't think twice about keeping it for another 10 years. Go get your truck and be happy! Looking forward to hear about the one you get!:)

Also, first-gens are 2001-2004 and my compliments to Concrete Jedi because he owns a newer truck but is never hesitant to give positive comments about the older trucks!

95.5-2000 are also considered 1st gens. 95.5 is when the Tacoma model name was adopted.

Thanks for all the replies this will definetely be the truck that I get, however it might be a couple months. gotta pay off the wife's car first. That ought to give me time to find a good deal on auto trader or craiglist. I'll be sure to post pics once I get it.
