I added some loc's to my head unit so I can install a amp. All that is good and well, but Friday night was the first time since I got the truck that I had to drive at night and I noticed that the side buttons on the oem unit didn't light up. Are they supposed to? It is the buttons that say Home, audio, track forward and so on. I am wondering if I didn't wire up the illumination wires when I was wiring up the loc and the bests wire harnesses.

line out converter - it's so you can use the factory front or rear speaker wires to convert to rca's to add an amp and use the oem head unit

    None....yet
I am about to install this weekend. I am going the route of keeping stock head unit. Which means I will be using the Line Output Converter, 2 Questions....

    1. Did you get a wire harness, or splice behind the head unit? If you spliced, What speakers did you connect to?
    2. Did you figure out what was the problem with your lighting issue?
    Thank you

I used harnesses as I did not want to cut or splice any wires

As for the lighting, no ideas yet. I confirmed 100% that the illumination wire is connected and working properly so i'm thinking the side buttons were never intended to light up or i have a bad head unit
