2012 Tacoma, air conditioning failure. For the life of me I cannot find the AC sight glass, and my googling and forum searching have failed me. I apologize for this dumb question. Thanks for your help.

Last manufacturer I can think of that used sight glasses is Honda and those disappeared in the late 90s

Highlanders had them, can't remember what year. 2008 ish. Probably more models, but meh.

Basically useless, its great for quick reference to show the system circulating but any complaint I need to know charge % and gauge pressures.

Oh yea you're right, the highlanders that came with the old timing belt v6 had them. Around the time they switched over to the 3.5 chain motors the sight glasses went away

Costs too much to put one in every vehicle. Also it keeps people from messing around with the system when they don't understand what they are doing, kind of like why they got rid of transmission fluid dipsticks on everything. Keeps people from tampering with things they shouldn't be LOL

Well that explains why I can't find it! I was trying to eliminate the obvious symptoms, oh well.

Oh and the transmission dipstick thing sucks too. I remember back in the day, the garage underfilled the automatic transmission of my Dad's Pathfinder. A quick check of the dipstick identified why it was shifting like ass.

I stumbled upon this discussion and had to comment. You will see instructions even on late model Yotas that say to check the sight glass. They're talking about the sight glass on your manifold gauge set, not on the vehicle. Here's an example of what they're talking about, starting at 7:10 on the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSzH_9blVO4&t=12s
