I have already bought them and would like to install them before the 600 mile trip home.

As long as they fit and don’t put your bag over weight, I don’t see why not.

So you bought mudflaps, are flying to your truck, and then driving home?

Mudflaps, probably. Hardware and tools, probably not (the small screws will pass, but screwdrivers can get flagged).

FedEx them to yourself if you want to get them there safely.

Can they fit in your colon? That is how most “questionable” stuff gets transported now a days.

Yes, that is an acceptable item on a plane carry-on.

Good point! I didn’t think of install tools,,, that’s what I’d focus on. If nothing else, just check bag and bring your cheapest Harbor Freight tools in case they loose, piss on, or destroy your tools.

I agree with the shipping them to yourself at the destination. You can ship the tools in the same box. The postal service has "If if fits, it ships boxes" Rather cheap and you only need give yourself a couple of days lead time before your flight for the package to arrive.

Probably not the flaps, but the tools to install them could very well be stored in the prison purse.

Tools less than 7 inches are Ok in a carry on bag....So a small ratchet and the most honorable 10mm socket will be fine. I'm not worried enough to actually ship them ahead.

    Carry-on rules, as per FAA:

    Yosemite Sam with guns...no.

    Fat trucker silhouette...yes.

Please tell me you had the guts to get the Yosemite Sam "Back Off!" mud flaps. And if so, start growing the mandatory mullet now. Dating a sibling is optional.

Just drive your truck to an auto store or home depot and borrow tools to install. If your getting at dealer ask them to put them on for you. Or you can drive to a home depot buy a new set of tools and drive home with new truck and tools

Growing a mullet is gonna to be a problem....Been pretty much bald for quite a few years. Raised as an only child so incest with my sister is also out of the question. I bought the OEM flaps because I couldn't make up my mind which after market ones I liked and the gap that they all leave inside the wheel wells bothers me.

It’s under 6” according to the tsa agent who took my 6” screwdriver. 600 miles. Drive it home then install

I had to look up “mud flaps” on urban dictionary to make sure I wasn’t missing something…

Use the rural dictionary to find mud flaps. Never heard them called mudguards till I saw them as an option on the build Tacoma site.

Greg…. You may be right, I don’t need any trouble getting through the security line. I miss this flight and the ticket prices go through the roof.

One time I flew with a carry on bag filled with half of beef strip loin. Ice packs also. Nothing was said. Had brass from my grandfathers funeral, nothing said. Belt buckle in the bottom of the bag, “ we’re gonna need you to empty out the bag and see what that is.”

Luckily the weather is going to be nice and sunny. Leaving the mud flaps at home taking the sun glasses.
