You should have 3 leaf springs and a overload spring from factory.

But that looks too thin for an overload spring....

It does look a little thin to me as well but it has no arch. Which means it would give you about a cm lift. So I don't think that is your add a leaf.

+ an add a leaf goes into the leaf pack not underneath

This is what my overload looks like. Pulled it out 2 weeks ago when installing AAL 3-pack

It looks like someone took the doing pack apart and put it back together wrong.

Now looking at that, it looks like the overload and the bottom leaf are swapped and then the bottom leaf is upside down. wat.

Does the other side look the same?

You can see where the bottom spring is hitting the rivet for the bracket. I bet that arrangement would soften the ride without lowering the height. These ride pretty soft now. Don't know why you would want a softer

It rides ok, but I want to add a leaf for height. I am putting on a new lift.

Somebody had some beers before they installed that incorrectly placed upside down aal.

Yeah bought the truck and not quite sure what is happening.

So what do I need to do? I am going to add an add a leaf. Is there anything about my weird setup that would be different than adding any other add a leaf?

Thanks for the help so far.

I would return the existing springs to factory configuration before installing the aal.

Was thinking about this the other day and this thread popped up... Could you add additional OEM springs for more lift/load capacity?

I feel like the factory springs are so bad that adding leafs of any kind is like throwing good money after bad. If your looking for a lift or extra load carrying you would better off to replace with an after market spring.
