If I have 2 OEM leaf packs and am a cheap mf. What is stopping me from taking one leaf pack appart and making a home made "Add a leaf" pack? Really. Looking for some opinions lol

Do you have access to Spring Steel?

Do you have a Heat Treatment facility?

    Can you form thick steel?

If you answered no to any of these questions......then you do not have the ability.

    Pry open your wallet.

Just patching parts together from other parts does not make a functional piece.

Short answer, yes it will work.

Long answer no, it won't be good, spring rates will be a bit wonky and ride funky I'm guessing. Probably could buy a new set and sell the two you have for part of what a new set would cost.
If you've ever been to a third world country thier leaf packs on their pickup taxis are built that way.

    Yes you can do it!!

The down side is going to be lots of trial and error to you find just what your looking for

Mixing and matching aged spring steel often does interesting things

Your much better time wise to just buy what your looking for.

If you've ever added a leaf to a really worn out pack you know how steel can age and change differently over time.

You can combine them, but would have to cut down the leaves to make them “progressive”. Without the knowledge of the spring Rates and a way to accurately measure you’re either in for a bucking bronco ride or just wasting your time.

So what you guys are saying is a little torch cutter action and a few rough measurements isn't gonna cut it? got it. One set is clapped and the others or brand new. Maybe ill just forge a sword out of the clapped set.

People make Frankenstein leaf packs all the time, I don't see why you couldn't. You will probably need a longer center pin though. And probably longer U bolts

Recommend that if you Frankenstein a leaf pack, cannibalize existing leaf packs, and do the same to both leaf packs that are going on the truck.

If I've been able to hack what I'VE hacked, I'm confident you can hack this.

Just don't take it off road and I'm sure it'll be acceptable.

The thing is most people make frankenstein packs for their crawlers or their wheeling rigs, so when you ask a bunch of guys on TW about doing it to your 2nd gen you're going to get the kind of responses you're getting lol.

FS: New set of leaf packs. These boys run better than the OEM. $250 firm. Wont ship, wont meet. No Venmo.

I thought you said in the original post two sets of stock leaf packs. Why do they run better than oem? What’s the difference of oem v. stock to you?
