Stupid question

Hanging my head in shame, but here goes..

2017 Tacoma, DCSB, technology package / sunroof / jbl system...

Just realized I dont have a subwoofer behind the back seat (laugh it up...)

Did I get hosed?

 

Why would there be a subwoofer in it that if you bought it stock.
Dash Tweeters, front door and rear door speakers. That's all it's got, jbl or non jbl.

 

Um, no. The jbl package has a sub behind the rear seat. My 2020 has it, so does the 2012 I just bought

 

SOB I did (buy it new)... no subwoofer, just a sizable cubby

 

I got told recently that all the JBL systems had the sub... part of what the upcharge was. Just trying to be sure (years later) i got what I paid for.

 

They do. That dude is incorrect.

 

Thanks for clearing that up. I can promptly file this under "life lessons" and give me more of a reason to hold a grudge at that dealership... They fracked up the factory roof rack, and my truck is garaged kept. Found a leak and took it to them. They pointed out it was from the roof rack install. I pointed out they put it in, and got told quickly it was out of warranty.

F that dealership. Did you complain to corporate (not that it would do any good)?

 

It took 6 years to figure out? Are you even really 100% sure you don't have one?

 

And there it is...

The subwoofer wasn't the reason to buy the truck. Yes, I'm completely sure I have a cubby behind the (rear) passenger seat. I've known about the cubby for 6 years. What I wasn't aware of was that ALL JBL systems were supposed to have the sub. What I'm still unsure of: was the amp installed, or did I just not get any of the back half of the stereo? When I get a day off I'll pop off the back plate and peek. Figured asking this publicly would ding the credibility a bit, but what the hell, now I know.

 

No at this point its to late to do anything. It's a tad embarrassing/ humorous to even complain. The roofrack fiasco was enough. I just stopped giving that dealership ANY business.

 

Do you still have the window sheet laying out all the options?

 

Yeah, I think its still in the glove box.

 

almost 100% I swear the head unit has JBL right on it... I'll double check the window sheet when I'm off work

 

All factory JBLs have the subwoofer. Should say JBL on the radio and on the front door speaker grills.
