Had a situation recently where some road debris kicked up and hit the underside of my truck. I looked and there's no damage, but I noticed how little the dinky SR5 "skid" plate protects.

I plan on buying the Pro skid plate with some Amazon giftcards I got from work. So its pretty much free to me. I don't off-road except camping and getting to places to mountain bike.

My question is... will the skid plate weighing close to 45 pounds cause the front end of my truck to sag at all? I know people with aftermarket bumpers have that issue, but I assumed 45 pounds isn't enough, even with the SR5's less than perfect Hitachi shocks.

I put on a second hand TRD skid and noticed no differences. I like the weight of the aluminum for the wheeling that I do and have removed it several times for oil changes and suspension work.

Mine had cut out for a front receiver that I had welded up:

    You're welcome!

Before I actually installed the new suspension, folks were always asking me if I had a lift. It was purely stock with the skid on there. Hahaha!

Another benefit of the Pro skid plate is the access panel to the oil filter.

45 lbs is not noticeable . It’s about the weight of one thicc girls thigh anyway .

I measure the weight of everything I put on my truck in thicc girl thighs.

I've had filter access on other skids and found life is just better dropping it or else I just end of with oil drips everywhere days later.

    Isn't that free rust protection?

That's the cup half full version. :D

I recently found that if you miss-install the diff seal after the needle bearing swap, you can get a real easy FluidFilm application the whole way back to the rear axle. Only about 4oz lost out of the diff. Haha!

I can only speak to the TRD plate. The access panel works well for filter changes on it for me and is very easy to use.

Four easy screws versus six mildly more difficult bolts. It's a push for me.

I'm also kinda messy, I suppose.

45 lbs?!?! Hell, I need to lose more than that in weight. What a great idea! Lose some weight and offset that with a Pro grill. What’s better than that?
