Stutter when start

i have a 97 tacoma, 250k miles, stutters when i start it but runs great after, also gets not great gas mileage. Is this a problem that can be fixed or is it just because the trucks old?

 

Not great mileage to me that means less then 8 mpg is that your range ?

With my 3.4/5 speed 10 to 12 mpg was normal unless empty then 15 mpg was average.

Tire size and the weight you haul around effect things.

Your MIL is not on?? Have you pulled any codes if it is?

It might be anything !! When was your last tune up ?

When were the valves adjusted last ? If ever?

Do a compression test it very well might be just getting tired.
