Sub and amp

I have this amp from my old car and was wondering if it would work with this subwoofer? I keep reading about ohms and got confused.

in a side note any one run this subwoofer in their taco?

 

check the audio section, plenty of people running that kind of setup

the sub won't work as it ships, but will work with the parts as shipped. you'd need to re-wire it as a 4-ohm load to make it work with that amplifier.

 

That Skar box is a deal. I wish it was available when I ordered the JL Stealthbox.

Looks like the amp does 500w rms to a single sub at 2ohms or 300w rms to a single sub at 4ohms.
The loaded Skar box advertises a 2 ohm sub capable of 500w rms wired at a 1 ohm load.

You can wire it as a 4ohm, 300w setup with that amp.

Basically take the sub out of the box. Use one piece of wire to connect one set of positive and negative terminals on the sub. Take another piece of wire and connect the positive to the positive sub terminal and the negative to the negative sub terminal. The other end of this wire goes to the terminal connection on the side of the box to the corresponding positive and negative terminal connection. (300w at 4ohms with this configuration)

I'll bet that Skar sub is over rated at 500w rms. I have a kicker key 500.1 pushing 300w rms at 2 ohms to the JL Stealthbox and it's plenty for me.

The one you have would work fine. If you don't want to mess with re-wiring the sub or spend a lot I'd probably go with one of these...

For the $64 difference you'll get an additional 100w, dsp and the auto tune feature of the Key amp.

I'm running the Kicker Key 200.4, Focal RSE-165 fronts, Focal RCX-165 rears, Kicker Key 500.1, JL Stealth box and factory head unit on my 2017 TRD Tacoma.

 

And a smaller footprint!

 

What do you think about this amp for the the Skar?

It's cheaper than the others, advertised as 700w at 1 ohm (probably not an accurate/true rating). You could run it if you wanted.
