Indeed it is. I’ve been steady researching and saving ever since I learned about drop brackets reading everything on here and across the internet that I could get my hands on. Just gotta find the man who will do the job for me now and get it in before he retires lol. At the end I’ll be able to say I restored a good truck from a hack job lift and I’ll be able to sleep at night despite the money I’ve spent. Haha.

Please post some good pictures of the area you want worked on explaining just what you need done.

Have you tried to order the part and it is still a good number and has not gone obsolete even though still showing in online catalogs ??

When you say it was cut do you mean notched or completely removed ??

Has the suspension been returned to stock ??

You need to remember most shops may have never been under a Tacoma and have no clue.

no problem. I can get some before/after photos for sure. During photos may be at the mercy of whoever works on it. The crossmember has a section removed to allow the differential to be dropped low enough to maintain CV angles. Most of the member is actually still there. its literally a section only just large enough to allow for the diff drop. I saw somewhere that someone welded a straight piece of steel stock across to attach them and i think thatd work unless the steering rack caused an issue. it also needs to be moved back up.

Post pictures of the chunks of frame you have. One of them is the cross member this guy needs.

Could’ve sworn that’s for the front chunk of frame. Looks identical to the one th e diff mounts to.

I can't like this post enough. 6" lift is just stupid.

I called a Toyota dealership in PA to get the crossmember but he said you can’t get a welded one without getting a frame. So now I’m back to getting one fabbed. Good news is I found a shop that will take me but they can’t get me in until April 13. These are photos of the underside. Most of the crossmember is still there they just removed enough for the diff to come down. It’s hard to tell where it’s cut from the photos, especially on the driver side because it’s hiding.I think I’ll be in decent shape in the end but boy am I tired of this drawing out. In the meantime I’m gonna get my CVs done as the passenger is spitting grease.

I just dropped the girl off at a fab shop in west Nashville to have my bracket lift deleted and fabbed back to stock. After talking to the guy I get a good feeling he’s got what it takes and said I can expect it to be done sometime in the coming week or so. I can’t believe how long and arduous this trip has been to find the right man for the job. I hope this comes out right and I’m so hype to have my girl more safe and sturdy than the mess that’s under there right now. I’ll post results when I get them. If all comes out right this’ll be a good rescue story for the good guys.

I just picked the truck up and wobbled her home. After everything I ended up with new leafs, new coils, new shocks front and back, new lower control arms, exhaust redirect, old lift delete, diff raised back up, crossmember gabbed for steering rack, new components installed and a bill 2x what I wanted lol. Obviously I need an alignment something fierce but the geometry and suspension feel really good. It’s very tight and solid but not stiff or jarring. I still need a sway bar but I’m happy with the work. It’s not done though... here are some photos after we got home. One thing I noticed is that the rear is a bit leany to the driver side but I believe that’s probably due to my driveway as I checked and the leafs are on the proper side. Next on the list is alignment, sway bar, wheels, tires, better looking bumper and oh! I just realized I forgot to mention I found a matching camper shell the other day so I jumped on it. The one in the photo goes to a Colorado and will come off to be replaced. Everyone please lend me input on if everything looks to be in order or if you notice anything that needs to be at the top of the list. Also if anyone knows a good location or internet link to order a front sway bar I’d appreciate it so I can start looking at prices. Forgot to include that this is the OME 881 coils with 265 75 r16.

Not as relevant now that you've had other people look at it, but you definitely CAN get the sub frame assemblies that are welded in place. For the 1995-2004 Tacoma, all of them have part numbers and are orderable. The only pieces you can't get, more or less, are the side frame rails. For 2005-2020 Tacomas there are a few Toyota no longer sells separately.

    1995-2004:

51202-04010 is the sub frame for 4WD and Pre-Runner trucks.
51202-35330 is the sub frame for 2WD 5-lug trucks.

    Jeff
