Focus on your family. I know I can't speak for others, but I feel this community will support you and the business isn't going anywhere. At least mine isn't.

This. I remember a year or so back there was a guy looking for support getting/maintaining sobriety. The community showed up for him in a huge way and it was really cool to see. It really showed that people are genuinely good and do care about each other, especially around these parts.

Definitely focus on your family that needs you around first, you are far more likely to regret missing out on them than you are to regret falling behind in business. I can certainly appreciate and understand you putting those personal values first, being a small business owner myself I would close however long necessary in a heartbeat if my family needed me to be there for them.

Thanks for sharing such personal information. No worries and no rush on my end. As a family member of a cancer survivor, it never gets easier, only more clear and finite. Spend your time well with your loved ones.

I’ve since made a better video showing off my equal length exhaust. This isn’t exactly like the Sub Zero design, mine has all 4 cats, and isn’t exactly perfect as for some reason Toyota made the LH side of the y pipe bigger in diameter, but it will give you 3rd gen folks an idea on what an equal length y pipe will make the truck sound. I think it sounds pretty damn good in my opinion. Much better than the standard y pipe. It would probably sound even better with the Sub zero design, but I wanted to keep my cats.

I have a TRD exhaust on mine, cut off at downturn after the axle... I’ll snag a video once I receive the pipe and do the install.

No, it’s a borla xr1 muffler and small vibrant resonator. A trd exhaust will sound slightly quieter than what I have. I’d say if some of you are already running the trd exhaust, then keep it on and try it out with the EL y pipe to see how you like it.

Correct! I didn't need either. Truck isn't driven on salty roads (Thank God for work vehicles) and I Already have a tune from @JustDSM . I have no plans to start changing a/f ratios b/c I honestly doubt I'll go F/I on this truck. Even if it I did, I'm confident in the maps already out there.

I had the 2nd gen model and it looks like similar. The resonators did a really good job at cleaning up any stray resonance..always sounded deep and consistent.. though 2nd gens were lucky, they chose to use 2.75" piping that helped with the deep tone.. I didn't see any mention on piping size.

Still have to deal with annual smog before throwing this baby on.1000020632.jpg

I've been using an AFE direct fit for now and it was holding me over but lacking in the sound department. Mated to a JBA shorty and flow master 3" turndown

First impression, I prefer the subzero EL y-pipe over the DT y-pipe. To me it flows better, even at idle (I see more exhaust (exhaust seems faster (scavenging, as advertised). The acceleration with the EL y-pipe became smoother and made the exhaust note on my stock muffler deeper. Sounds wise I have less rasp in the cabin. I think the construction of the subzero EL y-pipe is thicker than the DT y-pipe. When I held the Subzero EL y-pipe, it felt solid, versus my dt y-pipe (I'm no expert, just a layman trying to describe it).

The exiting of the exhaust seems to be more in tune with the the overall system as it exits. I think EL allows the flow to be more in tuned to exit vs the un-equal length DT y-pipe.

I think I can benefit from an aftermarket exhaust. Most of the rasps I'm hearing is at the tail end of the truck (stock), it's like exhaust air is fighting to exit with the stock exhaust.
I plan to use a aftermarket 3rd gen exhaust that I have (Revel - Medallion Trail Hart) that's meant for a 3rd gen Tacoma.

Since I have a 2nd gen, I need to make a mid pipe with a v-band to mate the EL y-pipe and from there to my aftermarket muffler's attachment point. I can add a resonator in that as well but still undecided since the diameter for the aftermarket exhaust is 3" vs 2.5". I am not sure how that will affect performance.

I think I'll plan that for next year when I have to swap everything back to stock for smog. But in the meantime, I'll enjoy the Subzero EL Y-pipe.

If you have plans to go big just do the 3" now. But 2.5" isn't going to you back on a N/A or F/I sub 500hp.
