has anyone ever submerged their taco to having mud or water enter the cab?

I got stuck in a hole up past the bumper. The interior is shot and has been gutted. All fluids and filters have been changed. None of which had any signs of mud or water. Replaced the alternator cause it was packed full of mud and stopped working. My question is, how long do I have before I get electrical problems or if any at all?

Have you had any issues so far other than what you noted in the OP? If no then the chances are you may never have an issue at all. How deep in the cab was the water and how long was it flooded.

No other issues. Runs fine. The water was about half way way up the seats for a little over an hour

If that were mine I would disconnect each connector and hose it out with WD40 blow it out then reconnect. Just for the feel goods.

I would remove the kick panels on both sides and have a look. Make sure it is dry and look at some of the connections. I would also check the connections under the seat. As JimmyH said, WD-40 works well. It was actually developed in the 50's to displace water and provide corrosion resistance for the aerospace industry. WD-40 stands for "Water Displacement" formula #40".

In the olden days we used to carry this around to remove the water from the ignition distributor cap when we ran into water.

If you've not pulled the seats and carpet, I'd do that too. Just to get everything cleaned up. Mildew and mold growing in closed places isn't good.

0430C51F-A3DE-4767-B4E0-50384251D23E.jpg First thing I did, also the vinyl flooring from the Baja Tacoma looks awesome. Seen lots of threads on here about that. Defiantly going that route. Will have pictures of it once it gets here

I kinda like the utilitarian look of all weather flooring/coating inside on the floor.. a lot of the cheap ford/Chevy work trucks come with it but they are all base models with no options. I think it would be cool to have a fairly loaded (sr5,trd,etc) interior but a nice line-X floor.
Years from now when my carpet is all stained and nasty this is what I'm going to do for sure

I found the mat for $450 shipped. Doing the interior was easier than I thought. Wish I would have done it a long time ago.

That looks good. Not to nitpick but it looks kinda wrinkled over the transmission tunnel

Thanks! I dig it. I have it in both of my trucks and its super easy to keep clean. Just wipe it down with armor all and clean off the floor mats

Now that I think about it a line-x job would be way more work. You'd have to seal and tape everything off, and then you're pointing a spray hose full of line-x goop at your interior!

Yours is basically a carpet replacement, and there's no going back from line-x

damn you had yours filled more than mine. i filled the front leg area up to the dash for a few minutes (nose down). speedo did some weird up and down sweeps the next morning but after a mile or two worked fine and has for the past 2 years since.

i also pulled the carpet and trashed all the insulation on the backside then reinstalled when dry. no mold issues
