I will put my two cents in because everyone else is. Why so mean to OP? He thought the water was shallow enough because of some prior events so he thought it would be fun to show his friends unbeknownst that the water level went up. No biggy. Everyone does stupid things in their life. I personally have stalled my truck and partially burnt the clutch by doing 40ish in like 2nd gear(oops)

As for the truck that got flooded.

Flood cars are a pain to maintain. Anything electrical in it is going to go very soon. the chances of it rusting earlier are much higher because of the water getting into those little holes you cant reach with the blow dryer. They all smell like mildew after a while as well. And depending on the body of water you drove it into, fishy smells and saltwater smells.

    Well thats my two cents.

It was a funny site to see actually :) and I wasn't the one that dropped the trampoline on my truck. Also the only thing that pisses me off about the trampoline is the dick head neighbor. He drove his into the water (dumb in the first place), but anyways best of luck to the OP and he will need an insurance claim on this for sure.

I'm not going to lie, during the storm last week I was finding flooded areas to purposely drive through too. It was pretty fun. But no I didn't get submerged.

I once spent a rainy weekend rescuing wet vehicles from a state highway, through a salt marsh, during heavy rain and a full moon. Lots of wd40 and elbow grease. Luckily, this was in the era of points and zerk fittings. Baking the starters in an oven would normally dry them out.

Once the police marked the road, we went back to drinking beer. Best of luck getting the vehicle back on the road. Perhaps I was a bit severe earlier...I was young once also.

Maybe 1 or 2, but not most. You're confusing people being a dick with people giving sharing their thoughts after reading an award winning Darwin type tale.

I hope it "works out for him" too, but it doesn't look good.

Post up a story like that and a crap storm is 100% guaranteed to follow. Hell, I would bet that the second ever message sent over ARPANET forty-five years ago was an insult. Just sayin.

Back to the topic. From the OP it sounds bad for the poor abused Taco. Water in the intake, water in the oil, followed by an attempt to start the truck. If it didn't hydrolock before it was shut down (likely) in the first place the attempt to start it later was a really bad move.
