So basically I have a 800 Watt CRUNCH AMP w/a 10" kicker sub. Professionally installed, and I think it sounds great, but i notice when i start driving (foot on the gas), there seems to be more bass output added to the point of the subs kind of distorting. When I'm stopped at a light, the subs go back to sounding fine. I think it's an amp problem, maybe grounding? but I just wanted to pin point it so when I go back to the audio shop, I can help them on finding the problem. Anyone got any idea on what's going on here or had similar problems?

This may be a shot in the dark but, some head units are designed to raise the volume based on the speed of the car. Its meant to adjust to road noise at speed. I am wondering if there could be a possibility your stereo has this feature which would explain what your describing.

I would also verify that they ran the RCA cables far far away from your main power wire running to the amp, it can pick up distortion that way through the RCA's if not careful...

Thank you sir! I went into the audio settings and found a setting for sound leveler. It was on HIGH, so i turned it off, hopefully this helps.

Your charging system is generating a higher voltage as the motor spins up. So there's that. However distortion is typically the result of too little power. Maybe it isn't distortion you're hearing but the sub playing at its limits?

If that doesn't do it (I'd bet it does help), you might try turning down the gain on your amp. The higher voltage in the system when the alternator is spinning faster might be pushing the amp from "gain is just right" to "gain is too high".

I was having some issues getting my gains set correctly until I remembered I had bumped the EQ settings on the head unit up. It was much better after I set those back to flat.

Thanks! && yes, it did help! If I didn't have a sub, I actually wouldn't mind utilizing this feature.

A world of difference some help on this forum would do
