Hey guys, does anyone have any recommendations for subwoofers to go behind the back seats? I want it to be powerfull but I dont want to blow the doors off my truck so to speak. I looked into JL Audio’s stealthbox and almost purchased it but it’s just too pricy for me right now. If anyone has a similar setup I’d love to see what it looks like and what you are running (also looked into taco tunes let me know if anyone has any of their stuff.) Thanks

Who needs the single seat anyways! I spent around $250 on this setup if you don't count the head unit. It is a 12 inch Skar Audio VD-12 500 watt sub running on a Skar Audio 750 watt amp. Got it wired to 1 ohm so all 750 watts go into. Then I made the ported box and laid on some carpet. Clean and loud when the knob gets turned up. Now I'm going to be redoing the rest of my sound system.

The JL 8" w3v3 in the JL shallow box puts out surprisingly big sound, and it'll fit behind your back seat. My buddy did a JL 10 in the stealth box and it's great, but man it's a lot of money.

Not a bad subwoofer. It is 500 watts rms. I dont know your knowledge on ohms and subs in general, so if you don't know, I would do the research so you don't buy the wrong things. 4 ohm subwoofers can be wired to run at 2 ohms for some great bass. Now 2 ohm splits the amount of rms the amp puts out in half so you are going to need to get a 1000 or 1200 watt mono amp. Once you get it wired to 2ohms, you should have around 500 watts going into the sub.

Any amp that matches what I said on this website should suite you fine.

But honestly, I think you would be better off just buying a 2 ohm sub to run at 1 ohm. My sub and amp were $202 and they are probably a little louder and deeper than what you are showing me. Your choice tho man!

Thanks for the input guys. Im not very familiar with subwoofers but I’ve been trying to educate myself by reading on crutchfield and other places.

You'll have a good time figuring out it, it's fun stuff. The box can make a great sub sound terrible or a good sub sound amazing. Not that it's the only one out there but I'm a big fan of the JL sub + box combo.

There's always Mr. Marv. Been PMing him lately myself. Hadn't made a purchase yet, got too much other stuff that's needs addressing before I get back to the sound system.

What RyanL said! I have a Jl audio setup 8 inch shallow mounts dual setup will give you clean crisp bass and not that ghetto rattling bass...

I put a 10" compact kicker sub in my truck and custom built a sub box to sit on top of the transmission hump right behind the center console. I have the access cab and space is already limited in the cab and didn't want to loose any seats or storage space.

DIY, still has all of the OE panels used to trim it out and the single 10" hits plenty hard

I have a single 13TW5V2 - and really want a 2nd one. A 13" is impressive to look at, it sounds super accurate, very high sound quality. But since its thin, it doesn't have a very long z-max which limits its output level. It should be capable of doing a bit more sound when fed its 600w, but it can't by itself. Probably should have gone with two or three 10W3, and fed them 1200w (with the gain down). If I had time, I would be looking into doing a fiberglass box to fit whatever I want.

I love the look of this setup. What amp sub and box are you running?

They are 10 year old Alpine amps can't remember the model #'s ? One two channel bridged to the sub and a 4 channel running Alpine R series seps in the front and rear doors. Truck is an 06' and I built this set up back in 07'. The sub is a JL slim line 10" and the box I made from MDF and fiberglass. Basically just cut the " buckets " out of those storage compartments, reinstalled them, took measurements and built a custom box to fit behind the panel. Same for the amp rack panel.

If you are looking for cheaper alternatives to the Stealthbox or MrMarv, you can look into a box from Soundoffaudio and a 10" sub. The sub cannot have hella deep mount depth if you want it to fit behind the seats, but you can get into that for 200-300 (sub & box) depending on what sub you choose. The SOA box is not the custom look of the Stealthbox, or the quality of MrMarv's boxes, but the cost is better and may be sufficient for your needs.
