Subwoofer with stock stereo + speakers

Does anybody have a stock stereo and speaker setup and added a subwoofer similar to this:

There were talks about that in the audio section. Not so great if I recall. There was another powered sub that someone recommended though.

 

I had one of those. it was ok. then I upgraded my radio, speakers and put one more sub in. Now I love it.

 

Would you say it was worth $100?

 

for me it was. it fits under the seats which is a big thing for me. I need to keep the back open for gear. It's honestly not a terrible sub. Doesn't have the big bass of other subs, but hey, it's a shallow powered sub so what do you expect? Fills the truck up just fine.
I ordered the wiring kit with mine. it was an extra $10, which is worth it

 

Right now I'm just looking for a cheap upgrade of sorts for the stock system, and I'm not too picky so it might work for me. Thanks for the input.

Then you can add a grom kit (i think that's the name) and add an aux input to your stock stereo.

 

I'm using one in my truck. I like the amount of bass it puts out. It's doesn't rattle my mirror or anything but it gives the music a nice low end you don't get from full range speakers. I'm running it with JBL compenent speakers up front and JBL 3-way Coaxials in back off of a 4 channel amp. This all connects to a Pioneer HU.
For $100, I think it's pretty decent and doesn't take up much space at all.

 

you guys got the 10" model to fit under the seats?? mine sits behind the driver seat. i like the sounds but really wish it was out of the way

I couldn't fit it under the seat so it's behind the back seat.
Completely happy with it. It's the only change to an otherwise stock, non jbl, stereo.

 

I mounted mine to the back of the cab in place of one of the fold down rear seats. Sounds cleaner this way not being muffled by the seat.

With Dynomat it works well on the back wall. I'm not exactly looking for licence plate frame rattling sub. I just need a little depth to the sound.

Honestly not that expensive and yet amazing sound for the system.

 

I put one under each seat. I swap out the seats to wrx seat, so maybe I have more clearence?

Thanks. I rarely use those seats, especially the one behind the driver's seat so it was not a loss removing it. And it doesn't take up any more space than the seat did.

 

I would honestly look at upgrading the deck, first. Aftermarket decks have MUCH more power than stock, so even if you keep the stock door speakers, the additional power will drive them better and they'll sound better. I've been running the stock speakers with a Kenwood deck for like 10 years in my doublecab. I'm no audiophile, but it definitely sounds much better than the stock deck.

For $100, you can get a pretty decent deck that will do all sorts of stuff the stock deck NEVER will do, including a sub pre-out, mp3's, bluetooth, etc...
