I just bought a 2019 TRD off-road 4x4 with the 3.5 V6 and 28k miles. Is this normal engine sound? There’s also a sucking noise that I assume is some sort of vacuum cycling when the ac is on. You can hear it right at the end of the video but it happens 3 times total in this clip. I’m also dealing with an occasional squeak from the pulleys. I replaced the upper driver side and that helped. Any thoughts on that? I’m new to the Taco world.

That’s normal engine noise. I picked up a girl 30 years ago for $20 her sucking sound was better.

Of all these engines i've now listened to, sounds pretty normal....some are a bit noiser than others....they make lots of mechanical sounds.

Sometimes I get a bit of a lifter tick sound. A fresh cycle of Mobil 1 synthetic fixes it.

I hear the typical ticking sound from injectors running the cleaning cycle on these engines. Normal. The sucking sound you described sounds like the A/C clutch activating. There is a slight drop in RPM at the same time. Your A/C cycling is normal.

Sounds just like mine, absolutely normal. These are noisy engines.

Thank you to everyone for commenting. I’m 3 days in and 2 very minor but useful mods down. Interior LED swap and glovebox/console dividers installed. My wife is hoping I don’t keep up the pace although she’s already gotten a load of mulch and new rocking chairs thanks to my new girl!
