It's cold. I'm thinking about a remote start. I'd really like to have the ability to start the truck when I roll out of bed in the AM and crawl into it all nice and toasty. LOL

I have never bought one, no clue what's worth owning.

All I know is I want 1 remote that will do everything. I don't want 1 remote for the start and one remote for the rest of the truck.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Are you looking to self-install, or are you looking to have a shop do it?

    I could go either way.

Self install would be nice but not a necessity.

What @DCSBFTMFW said. I like Clifford better, but that's just personal preference.

I hate electrical with a passion, so I would have a shop do it. But that's your call - maybe you're better than I with that stuff.

For this of you interested in an unbias opinion, i have a 2012 as you can see in the details.

I paid the 840$ total on the better viper system, and it was the best money I've spent on my truck other than the seat covers, coilers, etc haha you get the point. It has truly helped me out with the security features as well. pm me for questions

Are any of these suggestions an all-in-one remote? I know most have their own remote (totally understandable) but with a key, fob, and remote start, it starts to get bulky. I'd also like to get the all-in-one FOB here on TW but not just to go right back to having two of them. Subbed

Yes, they make all-in-one systems that will be tied into everything, if that's what you want.

yes there are options cheaper than what i paid, that have it all in one as well. My recommendation: bye the cheapest viper version that has it all in one.

DO NOT BYE a knock off version one aspect to keep in mind guys is that if you have a factory warranty still... any install other than toyota installing it WILL void your warranty the one toyota offers is like 1300 installed vs the cheap all in one viper system at 350 roughly

Brother, this is 100% un-true. It will NOT void your warranty - please don't spread this kind of misinformation.

For a dealer to deny a warranty claim, they have to prove that the modification directly caused whatever failure happens. If you put on an after-market alarm and your motor died at 10,000 miles, the dealer would have to prove that your alarm system caused the motor to failure. This is in federal court.

It's the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, and it's designed to help consumers to not be taken advantage of by warranty companies.

    Please read this: http://www.mlmlaw.com/library/guides/ftc/warranties/undermag.htm

i said the SAME thing, then guess what i spoke to my buddy Craig who is the Financial and marketing manager of a local toyota dealership, he just got back from a local dealer meeting at toyota headquarters for the americas, and this was an issue brought up.

Toyota CANNOT confirm the electrical work installed was properly installed. Such laws did cover you in the past but the manufacturers are finding ways around this. there are numerous articles and forums on this. do your research before calling the facts "MISLEADING INFORMATION"

Viper and Clifford (same company, same equipment, slightly different aesthetic of remotes) both sell alarms and remote start systems at a pretty wide scale of cost.

My Clifford system was expensive and had an all in one fob that controlled remote start, alarm functions, and had a display showing what sensor was being detected as a fault any time the alarm went off.

Great systems. All you would need to have is one remote for the alarm and one key for the ignition.

It's federal law. You're 100% misleading. It's nothing personal, you're just dead wrong and I want the OP to have accurate information.

Toyota doesn't make the call - if there's a disagreement, it goes to federal court.
