I fully support your endeavor of getting rid of your debt and using 1st gen Tacoma as your reliable means of daily transportation. You didn't ask so I shouldn't be saying it buuuut, it's the internets and I want to get my 2 cents in like the next guy :D, you're making a wise move, coming from an older guy that's been there done that
I understand the desire for more comfort as well. Get bucket seats if you're currently bench seats, and then next thing for a daily that commutes at highway speeds would be sound deadening the back of the cab and floors of cab and the door panels/shells as well. Some guys have used a sound decibel meeasurer thingy and found those areas to let in the most road/wind noise at freeway speeds

My truck had 3 different cigarette lighter plugs, so I swapped one of the lower two with a USB charger that also displays voltage. Plug and play

Do you care about stuff like touchscreen and nav? I got a Pioneer single DIN with bluetooth support for my 92 Lexus and it woke up the factory speakers and has great call quality. For $80 from Crutchfield it came with all the plastics and harnesses too.

For my Tacoma I'm considering an Android HU so I can throw my GPS software on there and not have to worry about having my phone around. I've heard the viewing angle with double DIN LCDs is bad in the Tacoma, though.

its sorta different starting in 98 models iirc
no extra aux outlets, just the one, and no rectangular knockouts in that area
unless OPs truck has a different setup

or maybe i was looking at the pic wrong and what the USB charging port is on yours?

They are leatherish material, super comfy, don’t stain like the cloth most importantly
Drivers side you get lumbar support.

that's the one i got. seems pretty good build quality for the price. its a little bigger than the aux power outlet hole so i widened the hole a bit to install.

Does this just plug into the cigarette lighter, or does it take the place of it?

Tell me more. Like, what to get and how much? I'm glad I don't have a bad back or I don't think I could survive my commute with my truck.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
#1 Suggestion is a better head unit. Might want to look in to one with a tilt screen. The viewing angle in the stock location is garbage.

#2 Suggestion additional charging port... and wire it direct. The lighter only has power when the truck is on... and to me... that is f'n stupid. I have added 3 USB chargers now... all wired for constant power.

#3 Better seats. If you can fab metal or know someone who can, then fab seat mounts and ditch Tacoma or 4Runner seats all together. 3rd Gen 4runner seats are nice, but they are hard to find, and for the price people want for them, they are the same garbage as what you have already, only that garbage has been sprayed with air freshener.
