I know you did, and I responded there as well.

My point is that more data isn't necessarily good, especially if that data is flawed or incomplete. I can prove to you the sky is green using incomplete/flawed data or methodology.

But don't think I'm saying that your experiment was a failure. In science, the lack of a result is still a result. But you can't then make the leap that the lack of a result is the same thing as a negative result.

Years ago, as a student I spent an entire week doing field surveys of an area near Mammoth Lakes mapping buried fault scarps. Turns out my data was complete crap. I had a lot of nifty looking numbers, but it was all garbage because the instrument I was using didn't have the capacity to measure deep enough in the ground. If left to my own devices I would have concluded there were no fault scarps in the area I surveyed.

That's obviously NOT what I'm saying.

But if you want to have some measure of confidence in your results, yeah, I think you should at LEAST consult with experts in that field, or at least do some reading and see what has been done in the past that has a similar goal to yours, and emulate that methodology.

What you described here is precisely the scientific method. If you want to claim you're using science, that's the route you have to go.

90% of what I do is try to break my results or prove myself wrong. Then I hand it over to other people and they do the same thing.

We had a journalist a while back who was a really smart and well intentioned guy. He came to some colleagues about this groundwater analysis he was doing. He was trying to track the level of the water table through time by analyzing water level data from a bunch of wells. He wanted to group all the wells for this particular area together and show how the water table was changing. He was all excited about his results, but unfortunately he didn't account for the fact that the wells were drilled at different depths, and at different times, and are sometimes poorly monitored. He used our data (USGS), but all he did was plot all the water levels for all the wells. In the end, he was comparing, for example, water levels is shallow wells from the 1950's to deep wells that were drilled last year. While that seems obvious to me that's a bad way to go about it, to someone who doesn't do that type of work it's not obvious. It ended up being a great conversation because we learned more about him, and he learned why no one has really done that type of analysis before (the data to truly support it doesn't exist).

Do you wear glasses? I noticed that I was getting really fatigued, even on my short 10 mile commute, especially at night. I finally went in and got some glasses (mostly I have astigmatism) and I was amazed what a difference that made.

These are the ones I've used for years from Costco. Only two colors but these things are so comfortable. My gal Rose actually finds my old Tacoma buckets with these skins on them MORE cozy and easier on her than the 18-way leather seats in my RX350 go figure.

I’m interested in knowing more about the climate control stuff you’re talking about. Is there a thread or write up on this somewhere? This is the first time I’ve heard of it.

thats cool, i wish i could do that setup!
curious if you have sprayed coating under the bottom of your truck?
i have that and maybe why the road noise is tolerable for the most part, the exhaust and engine are about all i hear

maybe its the type of pavement in other locations putting some bad road noise?
there is one stretch in a certain county in my area that gets awful loud from the road noise that seems to just come in through the door and stops in the next county, luckily i don't have to drive that stretch much anymore

i would recommend spraying underneath the cab and bed some good sound deadening stuff, see if it helps any?
seems a much easier and less time consuming thing to do than ripping your cab apart, unless you don't mind gutting it :notsure:

im going to do it when i swap the seats. plan to either steam clean the carpet or completely replace it. either way it will come out. currently on my road trip halfway across the country and i can barely hear the radio anymore. when i turn it up loud enough to hear it, then its too loud and hurts to listen. outs just road noise coming through the floor mostly. i think i started to notice it when i bought a landcruiser last year which is much quieter inside by comparison.

what sound deadening can i spray on the bottom? is it a rust protectant too? i live in Cali so rust hasn't been an issue so don't really need it. but interested none the less.
