I am fighting with my exhaust (yes, still, I’m beyond stubborn). There are multiple things going on, such as dealing with aftermarket parts, etc. However, one of the main things is the flange at the 1st cat to the crossmember (3.4). As I learned the hard way, replacing the crossmember is impossible unless one lowers or tilts up the transmission. I’ve seen a few of tricks to do it. Things I have yet to try. Another is removing the transmission, which I did this past winter.

This finally brings me to my suggestion. A “while you’re doing this, you should check that” or “while you’re doing this, you might as well do that”. & whilst I understand that a crossmember is not an everyday maintenance kinda thing, so not something one may have thought to suggest, I have had things suggested along the way, one being knock sensors when I was doing the intake gaskets. I had started some thread regarding some other issue about the job, so someone kindly piped in about doing the sensors. I have also seen various other threads in which the similar type suggestions were made for others.

As many of you may know, it’s frustrating to have just been neck deep in some job, get it all finished, only to find a little while later you have to go right back in or close to it.

    Anyway, just a thought.
