Hello Pep'e Le Pew III, looks like I have ordered wrong type speakers according to what you have suggested. I haven't opened boxes, they just arrived tonight. I ordered Kicker Model CSC693 3 ways for front and Kicker CSC67 2 way for rear. I would like to get the best sound possible. Others have stated that this set up should do the trick. What is your opinion? I thank you for posting, this is my first stereo upgrade.

Will the sound be better, or worse if the tweeters in the door speakers are disabled?

Mat 66 deadening all four doors. Definitely was worth $400, my "13 hours" installing everything. I did remove the Negative Battery Cable to play it safe as others have instructed as 1st step in this upgrade for tweeters. Carefully removing everything, reinstalling without any scratching-breaking loosing-damaging parts. Watching 10 or more DIY YouTube videos showing what's needed was key!
I used the Mat 66 between door & speaker mount, the speaker mount & speaker, then weather stripping around speaker. Pro installer tips to direct sound, reduce any rattles. Rear speaker brackets must be trimmed for 6 3/4" round speaker's to properly fit, easily completed using pliers.
We are grateful to everyone here on Tacoma World Forum for helping with this upgrade, and Crutchfield for providing great customer service and 2 day free shipping and all support needed. My advisor was Dwayne, he assisted me with purchase and guaranteed me full refund if not satisfied. CSC 693 $98.96, CSC67 $71.96, plug n play wiring & speaker mounts included at no additional charge. Tweeters ordered from Ebay, $98 + Tax. Mat 66 & roller $80 from Craigslist. Dos Equis $20.
If anyone has questions or has comments I'm willing to assist anyway I can. That's what is great about this group of members! I am no way suggesting what I accomplished is safe or best practice, it worked for me given the guidance I received by this fine group of members and YouTube video's. Proceed at your own risk as these vehicle are expensive and many things can go wrong if not completed correctly. I just happen to enjoy the satisfaction of DIY projects, allowing me to do it 5X if needed and learning valuable lessons along the way. Nothing can hide if you do it yourself, if problems arise then you can easily make repairs and learn from mistakes.

    What is your verdict?
Did they suggest other options (just curious as to alternatives)

    thanks!

OZ TRD, we absolutely feel right choice was made. The Kickers are affordable and sound awesome to us. We are not experienced in stereo equipment
    upgrades so for us common
people we love the new sounds of speakers and sound deadening added.
Today was brother in laws birthday, everyone came outside to listen and approved. We listened to "Welcome to the Jungle" for effects of highs and lows. Brother in law prefers Rockford Fosgate speakers to Kicker, he is more in touch with stereos. He did approve of our choice though.
As far as Crutchfeild sales team member Dwayne, he did make suggestions. He was reading specs of other speakers but said what I proposed would work well, if we were unhappy with purchase he would accept returned product for exchange towards any other speakers.

Our next upgrade will be the anytime back up/ front view camera set up. It's a safety thing especially with grand kids and items that are hard to view in front of truck. I'm planning on researching for deals/discounts and how to videos..

If anyone has suggestions and has completed this project I'm sure there are a few obstacles to overcome. All advise would be gratefully appreciated :)

If you haven’t already add a amplifier to those kickers they sound 100perc better with a amp.

Good morning and thank you Pepé Le Pew III! I really appreciate hearing that as it was my first ever attempt at this. Great thing is nothing was damaged or broken. Some shops told me they are not responsible for broken or missing parts, if needed I would have to supply or replace items needed.
Funny thing is one stereo installer told me he would add one large sheet of sound deadening to the outside area of door rather than interior side. He would also make his own speaker adapter mounts by using original speakers.
It didn't make much sense to us and I was uncomfortable with his quote of $900. Other stereo companies I called hung up after they answered or just never answered.
One company quoted $4,500 for complete system upgrade, I ran away from that one. Another wanted $1,500 for the 6 speakers and the tech would install my Mat 66 sound deadening if I provided 40 sheets so they could be sure and cover interior of doors. They had speaker onsite but said if we did not make appointment then the price would increase due to speaker shortage and he was low on inventory. The other shops just had inexperienced sales staff
    .

Please don't tell my wife, she is enjoying the upgrade as is :). I really do not have any experience in wiring in an amp, maybe down the road once other wants are achieved I can attempt to add amplifier. Every shop we checked recommended amps/sub woofers in back seat area. The Tacoma space is limited, we need the space for other things.

I have the kicker speaker upgrades as well as the kicker 10 inch hideaway sub woofer. I would have loved to add the kicker key amp but the whole wiring harness is confusing and seems out of my league to try and make one. I wish there was an easier way to make this happen but oh well it’s sounds better than the stock set up. I have the 2021 radio which has the different connections in the back. There seems to be no easy solution for this radio.

@Gigan Where's your kicker mounted and how does it sound? Debating between that and a Rockville 10" or possibly an 8" if that slides under my seat

I have it in the storage behind the passenger on the driver side. The 10 is too big for under the seat on my 2021. It sounds really good.
