Hello, new to the forum, just bought a new Tacoma and hate the sound of the new stereo but happy with the functionality of the entune head unit with navigation. So I figure I’ll need a DSP/integration module of some sort to install amps. So far, considering the Audison Bit10, the Rockford Fosgate DSR1, and the ********* Recurve EZq. Not wanting to break the bank with something like an Audison Bit1. I’m looking for active 3-way output (or more) with customizable crossover points and a better eq than the stock unit provides. Prefer to avoid Audiocontrol, research has shown they’ve had a lot of issues in the past couple of years with their products and I’d like to do this part once and be done with it. Suggestions welcome as well as any personal experience with the products I listed. Thanks in advance.

What type of Real Time Analyizer will you be using to tune the system?

Admittedly, I don’t have a RTA. I have done more research since my original post and the Taco Tunes piece doesn’t seem to have the crossover ability I’m looking for. The Rockford unit seems to, but I haven’t seen much feedback anywhere from those that have used/own it. I have seen mention of a unit made by miniDSP that looks promising, but still reading about it. Not interested in the newer JL twk & fix units because I don’t want to have to buy 2 units to get the abilities I want as well as there has been mention of the fix units being flaky. Right now I’m leaning towards the Audison Bit 10, seems to be able to do everything I want at the price point I want to pay.

You can use the RTA in REW. You just need a decent mic and a laptop (or phone/tablet - not using its mic of course).

I used a JL Audio Fix86 to put after the JBL amp. It comes with a tuning CD to play and it removed all the factory equalization and time alignment. It also has a built in eq you can use with their Tun software. I wish it had a microphone to self compensate for the interior acoustics but at this price point it meets my expectations.
