hey guys i am thinking about putting a cai but i have heard all they are good for is noise, but what i really want is performance, the sound would just be an added bonus. So what should i do? should i maybe go with a throttle body spacer instead?

from what i have heard is a throttle body spacer wont do crap, just go with a good drop in filter, and get a new muffler for the better sound

I bought a TRD Intake and had it on for a tank of gas. Took it off that week and sold it. Sounded like garbage, didn't gain any power and with my same driving habits it lost me MPG..

AFE Pro Dry S drop in is now installed and I am concentrating on other mods.

    just kidding,
the research i've done hasn't come up with any substatial gains in horsepower. after i did my lift and put on km2s i swaped out my muffler(dynomax ultraflow) and put in a k&n air filter. it almost feels like it did before the lift/tires

Was your loss in MPG's due to you stomping on the gas? Hard not to do on that first tank after the install.

I have definitely noticed better throttle response with mine. I wouldn't say it has give much of an improvement (but some) in MPG's but IMO it does have a nice sound to it.
