One idea. Mount a square rail of some sort to accept the fork mount using factory tie down bolt holes on either side of the bed floor. No drilling just longer bolts. Would be like a front of bed rail except on the floor of the bed. Then screw that driveshaft mount to that. Totally temporary.

another thought get one of those tension bars and mount it between the bed sides down low to clear the topper and mount that fork thing to it somehow.

I prefer the first idea, there is no way that I can think of to secure the tension bar from theft. Care to elaborate?

Yeah I agree that’s kinda a limiting factor. Unless there are some bed mounts you can use (like those galvanized u shaped things) and put a bolt through it. Otherwise you’re right- the theft thing is a major limiting thing.
A square piece of aluminum from The depot or Lowe’s painted up and two longer tie down bolts is probably a cheap and effective solution to try. Also you could cable lock your frame to something for added security.

Which bed holes would I bolt this aluminum piece to? The D-Rings near the tailgate, or under the bolts that secure the bed?

I had bed tie down bolts with folding d rings from the factory. I’d use those. If I remember correctly they are near the tailgate and then there are two up by the front of the bed similar to the image I posted a few posts above.

There are unfortunately no D-Rings near the front of the bed on 2018 OR DCSB

I can sketch it for you. Do you have any bed bolts that are not the huge massive ones holding the bed to the frame?

Just checked - I have a D-ring on each side, right by the tailgate. The only other bolts on the bed are the six large grey ones, which run three on each side. 2018 DCSB.

No because the height of the bike wouldn't clear under a SoftTopper

horrible artist but maybe this is useful? Obvi I just sketch the way to affix it to the bed on the left side. You would replicate on the right side bolt point

Thank you for your time - Unfortunately I do not have those tie-down cleats in my bed. Just the two D-Rings by the tailgate and the six big bolts that keep the bed on the frame.
